Do You Lilac It?

The poll results are in! "Do You Lilac It?" won with 54% of the votes :)

I absolutely love this polish. In fact, it was the first OPI that I ever bought, along with "Hey! Get in Lime!" These two polishes are both black label OPI's, meaning they were made before 2006, when OPI changed to a 3-free (no formaldehyde, toluene or DBP) formula.

This statement was taken from OPI's FAQ page, which can be found here:

"Beginning in Spring 2006, OPI eliminated DBP (dibutyl phthalate) from all Nail Lacquers, Nail Treatments, and Nail Hardeners it manufactures. Beginning in January 2007, OPI eliminated toluene from all Nail Lacquers it manufactures. Toluene-free formulas have been approved for all of our Nail Treatment and Nail Hardener products..."

You can tell which OPI polishes have the 3 free formula by the colour of the lettering on the bottom label. Products that are 3 free will have green lettering, those that aren't 3 free will have black lettering. It is becoming increasingly more uncommon to find black label OPI's.

Do You Lilac It? was originally part of OPI's Bright Fall 2006 Collection, but now it is a staple in their Classics collection. Do You Lilac It? is a light cream lilac colour. There is no shimmer, glitter, sparkle, it is just a straight up cream, which is pretty refreshing. The colour is bright, but it isn't neon, or too "in your face". I think that it is the perfect spring or summer colour, but I also pull it out in the dead of winter.

The only problem that I have with this polish is that it is starting to get really thick, and hard to apply. This is just because of the age of the polish though. I'm sure if I were to buy a new, green label bottle of this shade that the application would be fine. I have tried to thin it out using OPI's lacquer thinner drops, but it is still gooey, and takes forever to dry.

This is 3 coats, I still had some streaks and bald spots after 2 coats.

Notice the black label?

I think I will have to repurchase this polish, something that I have yet to have to do! I just love the vibrancy of this lacquer, and I haven't found anything that quite compares. Planks a Lot from the Pirates Collection is close, but it's not as bright. I will do a comparison of these two polishes soon :)

What do you think of this polish? Have you ever loved a shade so much that you bought a backup or a replacement?
