Julep Emilie

Today I have the second Julep polish that I received in my August Julep Maven box - Emilie. You can read about my thoughts on their small bottle size and high price tag in my Julep Sienna post.
Julep Emilie is a medium, forest green creme polish. I found the formula on this polish to be a bit runny and watery. Regardless of this, I only needed two coats for full opacity. I found the drying time to be quite long, and the polish smudged fairly easily. Also, this lacquer seems to be an exact dupe for OPI's Jade is the New Black. I will do a comparison post of these two polishes soon. So far, both of my polishes from julep, Sienna and Emilie, seem to be dupes of OPI colours that I already own.

2 coats, no top coat. Not the best finish for a creme polish.

Julep, what is up with the one black painted side? Please do explain!

I would have to say that I prefer OPI's Jade is the New Black to Julep's Emilie. I have ordered a bunch of Julep shades using my referral credits (they finally resolved this issue!!). I am not wowed by Julep's range of colours - I would like to see something other than a basic creme finish. I will swatch the colours that I picked out, and let you know what I think of each of their formulas!

What do you think of this colour? What is your favourite Julep shade?

  1. I am debating on keeping my Julep subscription. I received 2 polishes in August but I'm hearing there is only one for September... not to happy about that!

I like this color though :-)

  2. The stripe on the side is supposed to look like someone painted a stripe of the polish. I got this color too although I haven't tried it yet and it definitely looks like Jade is the New Black!

  3. I have been holding off on Julep polishes because they don't impress me that much.

  4. As soon as I saw the colour I thought of OPI's Jade is the New Black. In contrast to the Julep polish I find the OPI's Jade is the New Black has great staying power. I have it on my toes for four weeks now and it is still holding strong. Thanks for the honest review!
