Gold and Navy - Comparison of Shatters

Happy November everybody! I hope you all had a fantastic Halloween, and have many sweets to consume for many weeks to come! I had a sailor costume, and I wanted to do something fun with my nails to match my costume. Since I'm really bad at nail art, I opted for something a bit simpler, and shatter was my answer. I tried two variations of this mani, the first with a navy base and gold shatter, and the second with a gold base and navy shatter. These sound like they would be pretty similar, but I had a definite favourite!
The first one that I tried was with the navy base. I opted for OPI's Road House Blues, from the Fall/Winter  2011 Touring America Collection. I then added a coat of OPI's Gold Shatter, which brightened up the mani. I wanted something a little extra, since it was Halloween and all, so I added a top coat of I Juggle... Men. I Juggle... Men is a clear base with very fine shimmer, that adds just a bit of extra sparkle when layered. This is what I ended up with...

For the second variation on this mani, I decided to switch it up and use gold for the base instead of the shatter. I went with Glitzerland, as it is my favourite gold polish. I layered OPI's Navy Shatter over top, and I loved the results! Here is what I ended up with...

Navy Shatter shattered very well, I like the variation that I got on each nail. I think that it pairs nicely with Glitzerland, and since navy and gold were in my costume I was very happy with the results! I liked both manis, but this one was my favourite out of the two. It just seemed brighter and livelier!

What were some of the Halloween manis that you tried out? Which of these manis do you prefer?

Disclosure: Navy Shatter was sent to me for my honest review.
