February Topbox!

I received my February Topbox the other day, let's see what I got!

Topbox actually comes in a tube, not a box like Glymm or Luxebox, and I like the change!

Close-up of what's inside :)

The first product I pulled out was Shu Uemura Art of Hair Full Shimmer Illuminating Shampoo.

This is a good sized sample at 75mL.
"Great for all hair types. Shu Uemura brings the shine of the fashion runway to your home in this luxurious shampoo."

The full size is 300mL at $45. I haven't tried this product out yet, but even if I do love it, I won't be purchasing the full size, $45 for a shampoo is just crazy!

Next up is Yves Saint Laurent Mascara Volume Effet Faux Cils.

"This award-winning mascara achieves a dramatic result in a single stroke. The secret? The triple-film complex. A coating film for intensity, a conditioning film with pro-vitamin B5 and aloe vera for curves and a fixing film with vinyl polymer for long-lasting effectiveness (Available in 7 shades). YSL available at Holt Renfrew."

Full Size: $36. The product card does not indicate how large the full size is. It also doesn't indicate what shade the sample is, but I assume it is black. The sample size is 3mL.

The next product was also from YSL:

Yves Saint Laurent Touche Eclat - "With a few strategic strokes of this award-winning complexion highlighter - dark circles, fine lines, and signs of fatigue virtually disappear. Sllef and sophisticated, it discretely slips into a makeup bag for quick touch-ups anytime. (Available in 6 shades). YSL available at Holt Renfrew."

Full Size: $50. The card again doesn't indicate how large the full size is, or how large the sample size is. I'm quite disappointed with the size of this sample - it looks like what you would find on the page of a magazine, not a deluxe sample.

Next up is the only full size product in this months box (tube?)! It is an eyeshadow from Pari Beauty, a company that I am unfamiliar with.

"Tip from Pari's head stylist: For a more pigmented application, wet your shadow brush before filling the brush with colour and press into a primed lid to create a denser more vibrant look. Available at Paribeauty.com

Full Size: $11 (2g). I was given shade 26 (I really hate that they don't have real names, just numbers. This is something that turns me off of a beauty company). I do however like the shade, I tend to lead towards pinks and browns, so this is perfect! I haven't tried it out yet, so I will have to see how the quality is.

Lastly there were two sample packets from LillyPilly.

Kakadu Plum Hand & Body Creme

"This Australian favourite is packed with exotic natural ingredients, rich in vitamin C and exfoliating fruit acids.

Full size: $22 (150mL)
Sample Size: 2 packets of 3mL each, so 6mL total.
I am again disappointed with the size of this sample, this is something that will get a one or two time use, and I can't decide if the product works for me with in that amount of time. This is something I would expect to receive free with purchase or in stores, and it is definitely not a deluxe sample.

Overall, I like what I got in this months Topbox, but I'm not blown away. Compared to November's box, this one doesn't even compare. Also, the winner of my sponsored Topbox giveaway was supposed to receive a December box, but that got pushed back to January. January rolls around and my winner did not receive a tracking number or anything. So, after some nagging my winner was finally sent the February box. I know they are still a new, growing company, but I found this to be poor customer service.

Do you subscribe to any beauty boxes? Which one is your favourite? :)
Topbox is $10/month and currently ships to Canadians.

  1. I am obsessed with reading up on these beauty boxes! I am subscribed to glossybox and topbox, but won't get my first topbox 'til May.
thus far, I would rate the boxes in the following order from best to worst based on all my reading/reviews:
    1. topbox (best in terms of products and prompt customer care)
    2. glymm (usually has pretty good samples)
    3. glossybox (pretty new, not bad but not great)
    4. luxe box (bad customer care, a lot of cheap samples)
this is obviously only my opinion!!

    1. Thanks for the comment! I think that each box differs with the quality from month to month. I'm subscribed to Luxe Box and they have been disappointing me the last couple of months! (I'll put up my review of Feb's box soon!) :)

  2. I have never heard of these beauty boxes until I started reading your blog. I am debating subscribing to one, looks like Topbox is the best pick?

    1. Well, I went to sign up for Topbox and they aren't taking any new customers. They are sold out until further notice. Very disappointed. Now I have to decide if I want to wait to be able to subscribe, or if I want to choose a different beauty box.....

    2. Ya Topbox is sold out until June or something crazy like that! I'm not sure if this is just a gimmick to get more people interested and to make it seem exclusive or what. You could always go on the waitlist for Topbox and in the meantime order a different box on a month to month basis? I find that they are all of similar quality, every month their order changes for me!
