Prabal Gurung and Sephora

Sephora Reveals New Apparel for All Beauty Advisors
Designed by Prabal Gurung

San Francisco, CA (December 13, 2011) – Sephora announced today that CFDA award winning fashion designer Prabal Gurung has created the new “cast costumes” for all of its Sephora Beauty Advisors in North America. Reflecting Prabal’s fresh, modern aesthetic and incorporating Sephora’s signature black, gray and red color scheme, the new designs provide a sophisticated update to the previous uniform that has been utilized since 2001.

Prabal Gurung is the rising star in fashion, generating high praise from fashion editors, celebrities and his peers for his ability to bring fresh, unexpected elements to timeless designs. Acknowledging “I’m not a designer who makes trendy clothes…the only trend that is universal is that women want to feel beautiful. That’s what guides my work,” Prabal is praised by the leading women he dresses as well as the industry he plays in, most recently Prabal was awarded the CFDA Swarovski Award for Womenswear at the 2011 CFDA Fashion Awards.

“Prabal’s ability to design clothes that are modern and cool yet accessible to all women reflects Sephora’s ideal of client-inspired beauty,” said Sharon Rothstein, Senior Vice President of Marketing for Sephora.  “We are ecstatic with the designs - Prabal has truly harnessed our brand aesthetic.  Our store teams cannot wait to wear the new Sephora look.”

Prabal’s cast costume designs for Sephora include a chic and versatile shift dress and fitted pant suit with blazer for women, and sleek separates for men, all incorporating his signature tailoring.

“My intention was to reflect the style and playfulness of shopping in a Sephora store, but to also make sure they would be functional in such a fast-paced environment,” says Prabal. “The dress incorporates one of my favorite design elements, offering a flash of vibrant red, while the women’s pant suit and the separates for men, give a sleeker, more tailored look.”

Prabal Gurung’s designs for Sephora will launch April 2012 across North America.
