OPI Original Nail Envy

I bought OPI's Original Nail Envy back in August 2011, after dealing with breaking, splitting nails. It seemed as though at any given time I would have at least two nails that were completely broken. I've used some other nail strengtheners, from Avon and Witchcraft, but they didn't work for me. So, I was a little bit skeptical to try out Nail Envy!

I chose the Original Nail Envy formula, but there are others available, such as matte, for peeling nails, etc. You are supposed to apply two coats to the bare nail, and then apply another coat every day or every other day. I would apply this every time I did my nails, which is normally every day or every other day. I have just run out of this bottle this week, and I have been using it since August! So this product will definitely last you a long time.

OPI Original Nail Envy

I have seen a great change in the strength and quality of my nails! My nails still do break occasionally, but that is due to my being clumsy, getting my nail caught in something, etc. My nails have also been able to grow longer than they have ever been able to grow! I'm so pleased with this product. My nails went from dry, brittle, peeling, and breaking, to strong, long, and healthy!

I bought Original Nail Envy for about $16 at Trade Secrets. Sometimes this product gets paired with OPI's Avoplex Nail and Cuticle Oil for about the same price, which is an amazing deal! Since I used my bottle up I'm going to start using OPI's Maintenance Nail Envy, I hope it keeps my nails in great shape!  Have you used any of the Nail Envy products?

  1. Never used any of those products, but you are not the first person to recommend them! I have trouble growing my nails long too, so maybe I'll have to give it a shot! Do you find that it makes a good basecoat for color?

    1. Yes it makes a great base coat! I haven't been using a base coat since I've been using this, so Nail Envy is a great 2 in 1 product :)

  2. I haven't used it yet but saw it when it was featured on QVC. They reviewed this version and also the matte finish which they say is ideal for men too. I am a biter and have very flexible, brittle nails so I'm definitely going to give it a try.

    1. I would recommend this if you have brittle nails! The matte version would be great for men, and I also think that you can add the matte formula over top of any polish to create a matte look!

  3. I never tired this product for the longest time because like you, I had tried others and they did not work or they made my sensitivities to product worse. I got 4 little mini bottles from an eBay seller as a tossed in extra, so I did try this one, the original not expecting anything. I was surprised that my nails were stronger with this AND polish over it as well. I thought I should try the one for sensitive/peeling and also try the one for dry/brittle I think they are - neither of those worked - in fact they made the problems I have flair up worse. The original is THE one. Surprised after all these years and I had given up trying things, this one does work. However, like most things, I need to give it a rest now and again for a few weeks.

    1. This product is pretty expensive, so a lot of people will try the cheaper alternatives first, but I found those to be a waste of money! I wish I had just tried this first. I love that you can go ahead and apply polish over top of this hardener, I don't want my bare nails showing for weeks! Glad you like this product too :)

  4. on QVC in the uk they reccommend the matte version as a base coat as the matte surface takes the nail lacquer better making it last. ive done this sice i bought the original and matte in a duo (costing around £18 which is what you will pay for one in a retail shop) and my nails are really strong and the lacquer lasts.
