Lush Aqua Mirabilis

I've been intrigued by Lush's body butters for quite some time, and I finally picked one up a little while back. The Lush employees told me to expect that the body butters last around 6-8 uses, this shocked me! So, I looked at other beauty blogs and I found that some people cut the body butter up into little cubes to make it last longer. What I do is cut a little chunk off before each shower, a little really does go a long way! I've been using this bar for about a month, and I still have about 90% of the bar left!

Lush's body butters are both creamy and exfoliating, here's how Lush describes it:

"Give your skin an underwater shower massage with Aqua Mirabilis. Ground almond shells stimulate your bumpy bits and rub away dead skin cells to leave it soft, clear and smooth. Great for caring for dry skin, we make our Aqua Mirabilis body butter with a luxurious blend of cocoa and almond butters with just the perfect consistency to moisturize and sink in easily so your skin is left feeling silky soft, not greasy. For a finishing effect, beautiful sandalwood and rose oils calm redness and lend a gorgeous fragrance to the bar, and your body." - Lush Website

I honestly don't find this bar to be all that moisturizing, but it definitely is exfoliating! I use this all over my body every time I shower, and it's not too harsh but not too gentle. I've heard that Buffy, another Lush body butter, is very exfoliating, and can be a bit harsh. I'm glad I chose Aqua Mirabilis, I think that it smells lovely and works well. Aqua Mirabilis is suited best for normal/dry skin.

Lush sells tins to keep the body butters in, and I recommend getting one. The body butters melt on contact,  so if you leave them in your shower they will melt under the heat and water. If you already have a container that you wanted to use, then that would work great too. Overall, I do like this body butter, but I'm not sure if I will repurchase. I like to use traditional exfoliators more than this one (my favourites are from Bath & Body Works and Clinique). I might try one of the other body butters in the future, just for fun, but this definitely isn't a holy grail product for me. Aqua Mirabilis is $10.95 CDN for 3.3 oz.

Have you used any of Lush's body butters? Do you like them or prefer other exfoliators? :)

  1. AAh another LUSH post :) I am quite a fan of 'You Snap the Whip' body butter. I know Buffy is the most popular. If you're looking for more moisture, maybe try King of Skin next time if you do repurchase.
I quite like these little bars, but I prefer Rub Rub Rub (LUSH shower scrub) over them to be honest. I think these are ideal for travelling though! I cut mine up into squares and use one at a time, as you said. To anyone reading: do not leave your body butter in the shower unattended! It'll melt into a puddle and be wasted.

    1. love Lush :) I love the smell of You Snap the Whip, and I was going to buy that one, but the Lush employee talked me into Aqua Mirabilis instead.
I need to try Rub Rub Rub, I've heard amazing things about it! You're right, the bars are great for travelling :)

    2. ooh yes You Snap the Whip smells great! and its perfect for bacne. I really quite like it, and its fun in the shower because it turns your skin black! getting dirty and clean at the same time :P
Definitely grab RRR next time you're at LUSH! it is awesome for summer time.

    3. Oh I didn't know it turned your skin black, so fun! Yes I will definitely get RRR next time! :)

  2. We are going to a Lush store soon and we can't wait!! It's in DC so it's a couple of hours away. Hope we don't break the bank!!

    1. Oh that will be so much fun! You'll definitely need to stock up since the store is so far away :)
