NARS Cactus Flower Cream Blush

NARS Cactus Flower is my first endeavour into cream blushes! I normally opt for traditional powder blushes, but I've been getting more adventurous lately :) My mom actually only wears cream blush, so I don't know why I haven't tried it out before!

Cactus Flower is a gorgeous corally red with slight golden shimmer, which can look pretty scary in the pan. I must have been feeling pretty adventurous, going with a bright cream blush! The first time I wore this blush I was actually really disappointed with it. I applied it with my fingers, which I now realize wasn't the best choice. I found that when I used my fingers to apply this blush it really highlighted any pores that I had. This cream formula would highlight any imperfections that you have. But, I have a solution! I started using my Sigma F80 Flat Top Synthetic Kabuki, and it works great! I start of with just a little product on my brush, and build up from there. It's much easier to build up than to go back down!

Applied with my fingers, swatched heavily

Cactus Flower has amazing staying power, just like all of the NARS blushes that I've used. This blush will stay on all day long, I'm really impressed with the cream to powder formula. I love this colour for Spring and Summer, and it's actually very wearable. I like to apply this blush just to the apples of my cheeks.

I bought this at Sephora, but now I can only find Penny Lane on their website! Does anyone know if Sephora no longer carries Cactus Flower? Please let me know in the comments!

What are you favourite blushes? Have you ventured into the cream territory? :)

  1. I like cream to powder blushes as they sit well on my skin. This looks like a gorgeous colour, especially for summer. Someday, I hope to give NARS a go. :) x

    1. Which ones do you recommend? This is the only cream blush I own :) You definitely need to try NARS out, it's pricey but I think it's worth the splurge every once in a while :)

    2. The YSL creme de blushes are a gorgeous formula and blend really easily. It's funny that I've not tried NARS yet seeing as I think the YSL ones are more expensive. :p x

    3. I just looked at those on the Sephora site, they look great! I have to say, the colour selection from NARS looks better though. Aha ya, the YSL ones are way more expensive!
Thanks for the suggestion, I'll try them the next time I'm in Sephora!

  2. We haven't tried the NARS cream blushes but this one looks gorgeous!! We have used the Hourglass and that's nice and Mendi loves the Benefit Posy Tint.

    1. I'm currently using a serum/primer from Hourglass and it feels so luxurious! I can't imagine how their makeup feels :) I have Posietint too, I haven't used it in a while though, I'll have to give it another go! :)

  3. Oh I love this colour!!! :D

I use the Josie Maran Argan Color stick (in Petal Pink); it works as either blush or lipstick and looks fantastic (and lasts a long time!). It also smells like bergamot. :D

  4. This is such a great colour! Cream blushes scare me because I always use my fingers to apply and it just looks awful...I'll try the brush and see how it goes!

  5. I am also afraid of cream blushes! I feel like they'll clog up my pores. I think I will stick with powder blushes, although I appreciate the application tip!

  6. I'm obsessed with NARS blushes but I have yet to try their cream blushes. I love cream blushes in the summer! Also, come to think of it, I don't think Sephora carries this colour anymore but I think the Bay still does :).

    1. NARS blushes are the best :) I only bought this blush a few months ago, so Sephora must have recently stopped carrying it! Shame since I think NARS has 8 cream blushes and now Sephora only carries one!

  8. I never thought to use the flat top kabuki for cream blush, will try it and see how it goes. This colour in the pan looks kinda scary but looks really nice on the skin :)
