This palette comes is a metal tin in the shape of a suitcase. The case is adorned with different passport stamps from around the world.
Isn't the packaging cute?!
There are 8 shadows in this palette, each 2.1g/0.07 oz.
Top to bottom: Hong Kong, New York, Rome, London
Top to bottom: Tokyo, Hawaii, Hong Kong, New York
Top to bottom: Paris, Los Angeles, Tokyo
Top to bottom: Paris, Tokyo, Hawaii
I found that these eye shadows to be very powdery and the lighter shades (Paris and Hawaii) were very, very light. I tried to build these shades up, but that took many coats. Since they are so powdery, I wound up with a lot of fall out. I also found these shadows to be slightly chalky and hard to blend with other colours. I think that the main appeal for this palette is the packaging. If you love the Tokidoki brand, this would make a cute addition to your collection, otherwise I would pass on this palette. This retails for $50.00 CDN at Sephora, but I just noticed that it is on sale for only $19.00! This sale seems to be available online only at the moment. So if you've had your eyes on this palette for a while, now would be the best time to pick it up!
Oh! Also, this palette came with a little surprise!
This is a little donut shaped charm for your key chain! I think this is cute, but it's not really my style. I would have rather gotten an eye liner or brush. Also, although the packaging is cute, it's really bulky. I would have liked to see a sleeker tin.
Are you a fan of Tokidoki? What are you favourite products?
Disclosure: This palette was sent to me for my honest review.
This palette is so freaking cute!! XD That key-chain thingymaboober is sooo cute!
ReplyDeleteAha the packaging is definitely the selling point of this palette!
Deletethis doesn't sound like that great of a palette, but it is mighty cute. almost more of a novelty.
ReplyDeletealso, I love how all the eye shadows are named after major cities except 'Hawaii' which is a state? random.
I agree, this would be more of a collectible item! Aha I didn't notice that!
DeleteI agree, the packaging looks super cute but the actual products inside seem a bit naff x
ReplyDeleteI totally agree!
DeleteThat packaging is so so cute, it's a shame that the eye shadows aren't as good :(
ReplyDeleteIt is a shame :( I know Tokidoki is a cult favourite, I'm wondering now if it's just based solely on the packaging or if their other products are amazing, just not this one?
DeleteYes, it's always been cute. I always wondered if Smashbox makes this line for Sephora. Smashbox had a line called Tokidoki I am thinking it was out for maybe 1 year if even that long. Same type of characters used. Anyone know if Smashbox if the maker of this line now for Sephora?
ReplyDeleteOh wow, I never knew about that! That sounds like too much of a coincidence! How long ago was the Smashbox line out?
DeleteHave't tried Tokidoki but have heard rave reviews! Hmm...
ReplyDeleteJayme @ Her Late Night Cravings
I've heard rave reviews as well! Maybe just this palette was a miss for me, other products might be great!
DeleteI got a tokidoki palette which is wonderful for a smokey purple eye. I've been looking for a light purple set for spring, but haven't found anything yet. I was hoping this was the answer, but sounds like maybe I am better off skipping this one. I actually find the packaging a deterrent anyway--way too young for me. The other tokidoki set I have is small and simple with just a drawing of cartoon characters on it. Thanks for the advice! I'll keep looking for my perfect spring purples.
ReplyDeleteI agree, the packaging doesn't really appeal to me either. I would skip on these shadows, maybe they have other shadows that are more pigmented though!
DeleteI'm really loving NARS' Strada, is a purple with golden shimmer :)
