Benefit Bad Gal Lash Mascara

Happy Monday everyone! Today was my day off of work, and I used my time very productively! My apartment is all clean and I just made two batches of muffins (banana and blueberry, yum!), and I'm watching The Bachelorette now who else loves this guilty pleasure!?

Recently I ran out of my beloved Cover Girl Lash Blast, so I turned to my stash of sample mascaras. I seem to have a ton, from various beauty boxes or value sets. I've always been curious about Bad Gal, but I never wanted to fork over that much money for a mascara when I love drugstore ones. So, when I got this in a value set I was really excited to be able to try it out!

I find Bad Gal to be really similar to Lash Blast, both wands are really large and the formulas are jet black. Towards the end of my last tube of Lash Blast, it started to transfer underneath my eyes. I'm not sure if this was because I had the tube for a while before I opened it, or because the formula was drying out. I didn't experience any transferring with Bad Gal, which was awesome! I did find that I had to use two coats for the impact that I wanted. I normally just need to use one coat with Lash Blast.

I just have the mini version of this mascara, and I really like it, but I don't think that I'll be buying the full size version of this once I run out of the mini. The full size is $26 CDN for .3oz. I think I prefer Lash Blast, and you can buy it at any drugstore for under $10!

Have you tried Benefit's Bad Gal Lash? Do you think it deserves all the hype that it's gotten? What other mascaras do you recommend? :)

  1. Nice review!! I just went to a Benefit event at the new Shopper's Beauty Boutique and spent way too much money. The Benefit lady gave me this to sample but because I have a zillion mascaras on the go I haven't even opened it yet!

    1. thanks! I never open any mascaras before I'm ready to use them or else they would all dry out!
It's so easy to spend too much on Benefit... They're one of my favourite brands :)

  2. I love bad gal lash, but I agree it is pricey! I try not to buy expensive mascara because you're right- lots of drug store mascaras are just as good!

    1. I agree, it's a nice treat every once in a while but since I don't see a huge difference between high end and drug store mascaras, I'd rather save my money! Also, mascaras only last a few months, so I'd rather splurge on a high end blush or eye shadow that would last longer :)

  3. I agree with Steph I love Bad Gal but it is expensive. Recently I've been using They're Real from Benefit and that is an incredible mascara. I also really love Smoky Lash by Make Up For Ever.

    1. I've heard amazing things about both They're Real and Smoky Lash! Maybe one day I'll splurge on one of them :)

  4. I bought They're Real and as crazy intense as it made my lashes, I'm actually not comfortable wearing it all the time because it doesn't "feel like me". Isn't that weird? I always end up going back to my Lancome Definicils mascara or Hypnose which always runs out conveniently around GWP time so I don't think I've ever bought this mascara because one of the two always happen to be in there! I'm on the hunt for a good drugstore mascara because once these high-end babies are done, I too think they're a little expensive for formulas that I think are pretty much the same across the board for all mascaras. Sorry, I just realized how long my comment was!

    1. Thanks for the comment! :) I like my lashes to be long and black, but I don't want them to be fake looking either. I always use Clinique's High Impact mascara because it comes in the GWP! I've never had to buy a full size tube of it!
Have you tried Cover Girl's Lash Blast?

  6. I got this as a freebie in Glamour magazine and I do really like it for lengthening, but I have t team it with a coat of L'Oreal's Volume Million lashes to get both length and volume :)

    1. I'm so jealous about the magazine freebies that you girls get in the UK! I hate having to layer different mascaras, I need an all in one! :)

  7. This one dried my lashes out something fierce. I use Tarte Lights, Camera, Lashes which does not give me a ton of volumn, but it's good on my lashes. I NEVER can put any mascara on my lower lashes - no matter what I use, it always ends up running down my face. I have a new tube of Benefit They Are Real mascara which is the one Benefit has been getting all the hype over since it came out last year (not hearing much anymore about Bad Lash). So I will be trying They Are Real which is supposed to be similar in formula to Tarte's Lights Camera Lashes in that's it natural. Have you looked at ordering from QVC or whatever TV shopping channel you have in Canada? They have good deals with 2 for 1 in a price that is typically less than retail even with the shipping (maybe not in Canadian $ however)

Have you tried the Clinique bottom lash mascara? I personally haven't used it but I've heard good things about it :)
