bareMinerals Hydrating Mineral Veil

I received a trial size version of this bareMinerals Hydrating Mineral Veil as part of a Sephora VIB event a few months ago, and I just recently started using it. I was previously using a pressed powder from Physicians Formula, which I really liked, but it wasn't holy grail status. So, on my look for something new, I ventured into my stash to find this product!

I normally use pressed powder, but I have used loose powders in the past. I have to say that I prefer pressed powders because of the ease of use, and the lack of mess! Loose powders can tend to make a powdery mess on your makeup counter or on your clothes. If you're in a rush in the morning, opt for a pressed powder!

I use a big fluffy brush to apply the Hydrating Mineral Veil all over my face. I do this step after I've applied my concealer and foundation/BB cream. When it comes to powders, a little goes a long way, so you don't need to use too much product. I have the hydrating formula of this loose powder, but since I haven't used the normal version, I can't comment on how hydrating this one is. I don't have dry skin, so I don't need a hydrating formula, but it can't hurt either! If you have oily skin, maybe opt for a different formula.

bareMinerals Hydrating Mineral Veil goes on sheer, as promised. I find that it does even out my skin tone and sets my makeup. I really enjoy using this product in the hot summer months, as it controls oils. My makeup stays looking great all day long with this powder!

Have you tried this before? What are your thoughts? I don't think I'll be repurchasing this once I run out, just because I do love drugstore powders, especially ones from Gosh, Almay, and Covergirl. I'd rather splurge on something else :)

  1. I also have this product, but I do prefer Tarte's Smooth Operator. Lately I've been using my Boscia oil blotting papers whenever I get oily mid-day instead though!
