I've been using my sample size of Urban Decay's Primer Potion that came with my Naked Palette for the last little while, but I recently used it all up. So, I turned to my new tube of MAKE UP FOR EVER's Eye Prime. This is a new product from MUFE, and I was excited to try it out! Now, I don't have oily eyelids, or any real problems with my eye shadows wearing off throughout the day. I can generally wear a shadow all day long without any issues, so I just wanted to see if this product could make any differences for me.

MAKE UP FOR EVER Eye Prime comes is a long, skinny beige tube. I think that the tube is quite small, as you only get 5.5 mL or 0.18 fl oz. Compare this to Urban Decay's Primer Potion at 0.37 oz, MUFE is about half the size. Urban Decay costs $24.00 CDN, and MUFE costs $25.00 CDN. So, you definitely get a better deal going with Urban Decay, but I personally like MUFE's product better. MUFE's Eye Prime is very creamy, almost hydrating. It goes on beige, but blends out and creates the perfect canvas for eye shadows.

Here's what Sephora says about Eye Prime:

"What it is:
An eyelid primer that reinforces eye shadow hold and intensifies its color.

What it does:
Enriched with waxes and mineral powders, Eye Prime creates a long lasting, even base for eye shadow application. Its lightweight, non-drying texture blends seamlessly into the skin allowing a true-to-color eye shadow result that will not crease or fade."

While using MUFE's Eye Prime, I don't experience any creasing or fading, but I don't normally anyways. Something I don't like about the product is the packaging. It will be impossible to get all of the product out, due to the doefoot applicator. I feel like this is the same issue that Urban Decay used to have with their primer before they changed over to the squeeze tube. With this product being so pricey per oz, I would want to be able to use every last drop!

If you are looking for a great, moisturizing eyelid primer, I would give this one a chance! I do wish that there was more product in the bottle, or that it was a little less expensive, but what can you do? If you have oily eyelids and need your eye makeup to stay in place all day, this would do the trick :)

What is your favourite eyelid primer?

Disclosure: This product was sent to me for my honest review.

  1. I have to agree with you that MUFE has one of the best eye primers out there! Sometimes when something works so well it's worth the investment:)
