Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment

I received the Fresh Sugar Lip Duos from Sephora for my Beauty Insider birthday gift (you can learn more about that here)! I was really excited to be able to try out this product, I've always been curious about it, but I never picked it up. These lip balms are so popular in the beauty world, but they are very pricey, which is the reason I never purchased them before. Let's see how I got on with this cult favourite :)

I really love the packaging of these lip balms! They are metal, and each flavour/scent/shade has a differently coloured tube. The brown tube, the one I have here, is the clear balm. The cap twists off, and then you can twist up the product. The packaging does feel very classy and high-end, which of course I love.

I find that this balm has a light citrusy scent, that I can sometimes still smell even after I've applied it to the lips. The balm applies really nicely to the lips, just gliding on. This balm does stay on my lips for a few hours, which is definitely a plus. But, this balm will not withstand eating or drinking. The Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment does have an SPF of 15, which is great. Everyone knows that SPF is important during the hot summer months, but it's still very important in the Fall and Winter months, especially if you do winter sports.

This balm gives a slightly glossy look, considering that this is just a balm. You won't get the same effect as an actually gloss, but it's a nice effect. My biggest qualm with this lip balm is that I find it just sits on my lips. It can feel a bit waxy, and as soon as it rubs off my lips feel very dehydrated. For such an expensive product, I do expect amazing results. I have other lip balms from the drugstore that I feel do a better job at sinking into my lips and really moisturizing. One that I love is Nivea's Essential lip balm in the navy blue tube.

This lip balm will set you back $26.00 CAD for 0.15 oz, but if you have the money to splurge, definitely try it out. Sephora has an amazing return policy, so if it doesn't work for you then you can bring it back for a full refund, which is amazing! I have a few more little sample sized tubes of this balm and the Fresh Sugar Rose, which I will gladly use up. But, I don't think I will be repurchasing these balms any time soon. I haven't tried out the Rose balm yet, so the tinted balms might work a lot better for my needs!
