Lincoln Park After Dark

The weather here today has just been awful! It's rainy and cold and just not pretty. It's just one of those days that you want to stay cuddled up in bed, but unfortunately I had a few classes. This type of weather just makes me want to delve into my polish stash and pick out a darker shade. OPI's Lincoln Park After Dark is one of my absolute favourite polishes of all time, in fact my bottle is almost empty.

Lincoln Park After Dark is a deep dark purple, that is almost black. This shade is definitely more wearable than a black polish, since it isn't as harsh. The first coat of this goes on really purpley, but the second coat makes everything so much darker. I think that this polish is so classy and easy to wear. Because this polish is a deep purple, and not black, it doesn't clash on paler skin tones. Sometimes plain black can contrast too much on really pale skin tones. I love the wearability of this shade, and I have definitely have gotten a ton of wear out of this bottle!

I always use a base coat when wearing this polish, or any darker shade in general. I haven't experienced staining from this polish, but I'd rather be safe than sorry! I also use OPI's Top Coat for added shine.

So this is a polish that is coming back into my regular rotation for the Fall and Winter months. I also own the Suede and Matte formulas of this polish, although the original formula is my favourite. What are your favourite polishes to wear in the colder Fall and Winter months? :)

  1. I like black even though it is a little goth! But for fall I also enjoy a nice deep purple colour, deep red hues, grey and off white :) But I don't discriminate, I usually go by mood lol

  2. I'm wearing China Glaze Concrete Catwalk right now. It is not that close to black, but I'm really liking dark gray colors. But, greige colors are my ultimate fall staple polishes!

  3. This one always looks just black on me - no purple seems to show up. But I can wear it when I cannot wear plain black - so guess there is some softening of another shade in there. Just not a great look on me. Know many like this one. I do better in other deep shades in my OPI stash. Like another said - I am ready to like med. grays this fall and some darker teal grays, blue grays. I do OK in greige too but they cannot be too pink leaning.

    1. Depending on the skin tone, this could look very black, or slightly more purple. Like you said, this one definitely is more wearable than plain black.
I need to go into my polish collection an pull out all of my Fall colours! I haven't really worn anything but brighter colours in the Summer!

    1. Can you try adding a top coat? It would definitely add some shine and maybe make it look more like the original? :)
