This big black cube opens up to reveal many layers of products that slide out like drawers! Here's what the palette contains:
- 12 x longwear cream eyeliner
- 6 x eye top coat
- 6 x lip top coat
- 48 x lip gloss
- 3 x blush
- 6 x multi-purpose cream for eye, cheek, and lip
- 3 x multi-purpose luminizer
- 3 x makeup brush
- Mirror
This palette contains pretty much any shade of eye shadow that you could want, including blues, greens, browns, yellows, purples, pinks. A lot of these shadows actually do pack some serious pigment!
These are light swatches, so as you can see you can build up the shades. Of course, there are a few duds that are so light and aren't very useable. With large palettes like this, there are always a few standouts, a few let downs, and then the majority of the colours are good. I appreciate the wide variety of shades in this palette, but for daily use I tend to stick to more neutral shades. The bottom swatch in the above picture is of one of the cream liners, which I found a bit hard to work with. They aren't that pigmented, so you need to use a lot of product produce a good payoff.
The lip glosses also come in a variety of shades and finishes. As you can see in the swatches above, some of the glosses are very pigmented, and some are barely visible (there are four swatches on my hand!). I don't really like lip products in palette form, since they aren't portable, and therefore not easy to reapply. I like to have my lip products on hand all day long, since I do tend to reapply quite often. You could apply one of these glosses in the morning, but you would also need a separate lip colour to take with you, so I don't see the value of including the glosses in this palette.
The brushes included in this palette are really poor quality, I would just throw them out and use something else. It would have been nice to see a better quality brush to use with all of the products included in this set!
Overall, I think this is a good set for a young teen girl who's just getting into makeup, or anyone who wants a wide variety of colours in one palette. However, if you're really into makeup, I would pass on this, there are so many other amazing palettes and value sets available! The Sephora Collection Color Daze Blockbuster costs $60 CAD, and is limited edition, and is available on Sephora's website here, and in stores. Have you tried any of Sephora's palettes like this before? Will you be picking up this years limited edition palette? Leave me a comment below! :)
I got the sephora palette last year and it's an awesome gift. It was really fun to play around with, but like you said it can get annoying when you have to do touch-ups. I think I'll pass this year, I didn't use my palette enough and I still have a ton of colors I haven't used. Awesome review btw:)
ReplyDeleteYa if you have last years, I don't think you would need this years! I do think that this would make a good gift :)
DeleteThank you! :)
We probably won't get this but it does make for a great gift!!
