I didn't really have any expectations for this liquid sand formula, but I was excited to try it out. I needed two coats for an opaque finish. This formula is different from any other polish I've tried before, although it looks like a standard glitter polish in the bottle. The end result is a matte, textured (bumpy/gritty) finish. It really does feel like you have sand on your nails! Can't Let Go* is a really nice purple shade with blue undertones. Aside from the liquid sand bits, there is also some small hexagonal glitter pieces.
This formula actually reminded me of OPI's Suede line from a few years back. Both the suede and liquid sand polish have a matte, textured finish, but the liquid sand formula also contains glitter. You aren't supposed to wear a top coat with the liquid sand polishes, but this slipped my mind as I was painting my nails. So, in the pictures in this post, I am wearing OPI's Top Coat. I don't think that the top coat ruined my nails or the texture in any way. I'm not a huge fan of matte nails, so I prefer the added shine that the top coat provides.
If you're looking for a long-lasting formula, the liquid sand line is probably not for you. I found that I had quite a bit of tip wear within the first day of wearing this polish. But, if you love the effect that this polish gives, the tip wear is easy to fix.
Overall, I do like this polish, but I don't necessarily think that it's anything incredible or ground-breaking. I think it's a lot of fun, and something new to the polish world. I'm really excited about the Mariah Carey Collection, and I have a few other shades to share with you :)
Will you be picking up any of the shades from the Mariah Collection in January? What do you think about the liquid sand polishes?
what a gorgeous shade!
