OPI's The Impossible

Today I have another polish from OPI's Mariah Carey Collection, which will be released in January 2013. This collection features the new "Liquid Sand" technology, which is a textured finish. The Impossible* is one of these liquid sand polishes, and it is one of my favourites!

The Liquid Sand polishes have a unique textured finish, that really does look like you dipped your nails in coloured sand. The Impossible is a beautiful red polish with orange undertones. This polish also has star shaped glitter pieces! I found that not every one of my nails got one of these star glitter pieces. You might end up with 3 stars on one nail, and none on the next, so each nail will be unique.

I think what I love most about these Liquid Sand polishes is the incredible drying time! I used two coats on my nails, and they dry almost instantly! I can always count on my OPI DS polishes for a quick drying manicure when I'm in a rush, and now I can add the Liquid Sand polishes to my quick drying list!

Something to keep in mind with this polish, is that it is hard to keep your nails clean around the edges. Clean up is also tricky, since the glitter/sand is so dense. Also, you might end up with the star glitter particles hanging half-way off the edges of your nails. This happened to me, and I simply moved the glitter with my brush, or trimmed the glitter with manicure scissors.

I received a ton of compliments on my nails when I was wearing the polish. Everyone was so surprised when I told them to touch my nails and feel the textured finish. The Liquid Sand finish is definitely new and exciting, but I do think that it will be a fad like the Suede and Shatter finishes. But, there's nothing wrong with a fad, right? :)

Will you be picking up any of OPI's Liquid Sand polishes? What do you think of this new finish?

  1. The colour looks nice but I don't think I like the way it looks, too gritty for me x

    1. It doesn't feel super gritty, just a bit textured :) But I know this trend isn't for everyone!
