Lush Godiva Solid Shampoo Bar

I've recently been trying out Lush's Ultimate Shine solid shampoo bar, but I have to admit that I found it a little bit too clarifying for daily use. So, I turned to Lush's Godiva solid shampoo bar, which is meant to be more moisturizing and conditioning.

"Named after a certain naked protestor, Godiva gets to work sending a message to your hair. Our vegan, 2 in 1 shampoo bar conditions your hair follicles with moisturizing nut oils and Shea butter to care for dry, processed locks and leave you with glossy, shiny, and softened tresses. Long used as a tonic for the hair and scalp, jasmine also perfumes your locks with an ultra-sexy fragrance with serious staying power." - Lush

If you're new to the idea of a solid shampoo bar, I'll explain: instead of using a traditional liquid conditioner, a solid shampoo bar is like a bar of soap. I find that Lush's offer a great lather, and they clean equally as well as a liquid shampoo. Plus, solid shampoos are much more travel friendly. I like using solid shampoos because there's no packaging, so it's a much greener alternative.

I keep my solid shampoo bars in the tins that Lush sells. This way, they won't melt or break down in the shower. I do find that the tins can be a bit difficult to open up, so I try to remember to open them before I start my shower. I've been really impressed with Godiva, it lathers really easily, just like a traditional liquid shampoo. I will either rub the bar in my hands, or directly onto my hair. I do find Godiva to be conditioning, and my hair is left soft and smooth!

These solid shampoos will last you much longer than a bottle of liquid shampoo. I've used my bar at least 20 times, and it still looks the same size as when it was brand new! Godiva is $11.95 for 55g, and since this bar will likely last you a few months, this is a great price.

Godiva is quite scented, but I enjoy the scent. The jasmine in Godiva is beautiful, and not too overbearing. I find that this scent lingers in my hair for a few hours. Definitely give this a sniff in stores before you commit to it!

I've been really happy with this shampoo bar, and I was surprised that it's been able to keep my hair soft and conditioned, even in the cold winter months! My hair feels nourished, and easier to style. If your hair is feeling dry, brittle, or damaged, I would recommend checking out Godiva. It's worked great for my hair!

Have you used a solid shampoo bar before? Would you be open to trying out a product like this, or do you prefer the idea of a liquid shampoo? :)

  1. I've never used a solid shampoo bar before, but I've heard such good things about the Lush ones! Do you just lather it in your hair...?

I may have to give this a try

    1. I either lather it on my hair, or rub it in my hands and then run my hands through my hair! :)

  3. I love Lush solid shampoos, but this one was a complete fail for me. I kept it in the metal box too, and it melted into it and I couldn't get it out. And when I did (using different tools like knife and spoon), it was completely destroyed and hard to use, because it ended up in small peaces.
But I use other solid shampoos, and love them!

    1. Oh no! That's too bad :( I've never had a problem like that with my solid shampoos. Was it just Godiva that did that to you?

  5. So sorry for taking so long to get back to you about this, but remember when you asked awhile back whether I preferred the Bliss lip scrub over the Lush scrub? Well, I've definitely made a decision...and I have to say that I like the Lush ones WAY more than this Bliss one. The Bliss one feels like a thick wax and I don't think it does much to exfoliate your lips. I love the Lush ones & now I know that I need to get some more! ;)

  6. I love BIG shampoo, I am still worried about using Solid Shampoo! It is just a werid concept. I used the solid conditioner Jungle and I really couldn't get on with it. Does it lather up?

    1. They lather up really well! I would give them a try, they're different, but they still work just as well as a liquid shampoo :)
