Maybelline Color Tattoo - Bad to the Bronze

Maybelline's Color Tattoo line has been one of the stand out drugstore products of 2012, at least in my mind. When this line was first released, I was so excited to see them hit the shelves, and I picked up Bad to the Bronze, Bold Gold, and Pomegranate Punk. Since then, I've acquired a few more shades, and I can't believe that I haven't reviewed a single one of them so far!

Bad to the Bronze is my favourite shade from the Color Tattoo line, and lately I've been wearing it almost every day. This shade looks incredible on it's own, but I like to use it as a cream base to layer powder shadows over top of. I apply these Color Tattoos with my fingers, and Bad to the Bronze is so pigmented that you really only need a tiny amount. The formula is very creamy and blendable, but you can't really sheer this colour out. I like to start with a bit, and then build the colour from there.

After I apply Bad to the Bronze, I turn to my Urban Decay Naked Palette. A lot of the shades in that palette really work well over Bad to the Bronze. My favourites would have to be Half Baked, Sidecar, Toasted, Smog, Buck, and Naked. Some combination of these shades has been my go-to eye look for quite a while now. I find that Bad to the Bronze creates a great base, and my powder shadows really "stick" to this cream base. I'm not exaggerating when I say that I can apply my makeup at 7am, and after going to class and to work, my shadows still look amazing when I remove my makeup at 11pm. Now, I don't have oily lids, but I still find this very impressive.

  5. I love these, I don't think I have this one (isn't that ridiculous that I don't even know?) but I know I've wanted it for a while. I love that you use it with your Naked palette because that's what I use mine with too! :) x

  7. I keep hearing good things about this product/and this shade in particular. I use a fabulous eye primer that I swear by made by Garden Botanika and have tried a ton of 'em - none match up to this one for me ever and I have used it long before other lines came out with primers. This shade from Mayb. looks a lot like a Bobbi Brown shade I have in her cream long wear eye shadows. I sort of wonder if a lot of folks like this Tattoo line so much because it acts like a super good primer does? Once you have a great primer it makes all the world of difference in how long your products last, the color and so on. I have read bad reviews on some powder shades but find I love 'em only because they work with my primer and last all day through night and often if I have been lazy even on to the next day!

    1. I know that I use this as a primer, but I love it because you can also wear it on its' own, and it's still gorgeous :)
You're right, a primer can make all the difference!
