Maybelline The Rocket Volum' Express Mascara

Happy Family Day to my fellow Canadians! If you have the day off, I hope you're able to relax and enjoy this holiday :) My boyfriend and I are just taking today to relax, catch up on some shows and movies. We've really gotten into Girls lately, it's amazing! I think we might also watch Pitch Perfect today, which is now one of my all time favourite movies. If you haven't seen it yet, I highly recommend giving it a chance, Rebel Wilson is incredibly funny!

I've been trying out a new mascara from Maybelline for the last couple of weeks, and I thought I'd share my thoughts with you about it! What I look for most in a mascara is great volume. I find that my lashes already have good length and curl, but I love a dramatic, voluminous lash look.

Maybelline's Rocket Volum' Express mascara comes with a large brush with plastic bristles. The brush reminds me a lot of Covergirl's famous Lash Blast, which I really love. The brush is slightly tapered at the end, which can be useful for getting into the inner corner of your eyes.

I find that this mascara is very easy to apply, even though the wand is so large. The wand is easy to control, and the formula glides onto my lashes evenly. Maybelline claims that this mascara is clump free, which I agree with to a certain extent, but I do sometimes get some clumping. This mascara gives great volume and length, but I do wish that it gave my lashes a separated, defined look, without any clumps. I only need one coat for a daytime look, but a second coat makes for a great dramatic night look.

This mascara comes in both washable and waterproof formulas. I have the washable formula, but I still find that you need to use a good eye makeup remover to get every last trace off. This should be a good thing for girls with oily lids!

Overall, I do think that this mascara is a great drugstore find. If you're looking for a mascara that gives great volume and length, I would give this one a shot. If you comb through your lashes with the brush once or twice, you will get a nice separated look. I love the glossy black colour, and I actually prefer this mascara over some of the high-end mascaras I've been trying out recently.

Have you tried Maybelline's The  Rocket Volum' Express Mascara yet? Which mascaras are your favourite for a nice dramatic, voluminous eye look? Please leave me your recommendations in the comments below! :)
