Urban Decay Naked Basics Palette

I'm sure you've already seen a thousand reviews on this palette, but I'm still going to add my thoughts! Urban Decay has recently expanded their Naked line, and introduced a new mini palette: Naked Basics. At first, I resisted. I already own the original Naked Palette, and Naked 2. Did I really need another neutral palette? Considering I almost only wear neutral shadows, I decided that yes, I did need this palette in my life.

The packaging is very reminiscent of NARS, as it is slightly rubberized. The packaging feels very sturdy.

Urban Decay's Naked Basics Palette consists of 6 shadows, 5 of which are matte. I know a lot of people are classifying this as an all matte palette, but the first shade, Venus, definitely has some shimmer. I personally like the addition of one shimmer shade, as this can be used as a highlight colour.

I was extremely impressed with the quality of all of these shades. They are all very creamy and highly pigmented. I did find Crave slightly chalky, but this was only a minor issue.

Venus is a shimmery white satin
Foxy is a yellow based cream matte
W.O.S. (Walk of Shame) is a light nude matte
Naked 2 is a brownish taupe matte
Faint is a darker matte brown
Crave is a matte black with brown undertones

I've been wearing this palette over Maybelline's Color Tattoo in Barely Branded (reviewed here). I paired this palette with Stila's Smudge Stick in Damsel, and Maybelline's Rocket mascara. I love using this palette when I just want to wear an easy, neutral eye. This look is great to pair with a bold blush or lip colour, as it won't add to the drama. All of the shadows you need for a complete look are housed in this small palette, making it great for travelling. I also love the full sized mirror on the lid of the palette.

At only $32 CAD, I really don't think you can go wrong with this palette! The formulation of these shadows is incredible, they are creamy, blendable, and long-wearing, everything you would expect from Urban Decay. Have you already picked up the Naked Basics Palette, or is it on your wishlist?

  1. UD is just too fabulous!! Mendi has this palette and I may have just picked it up (even though I was supposed to be a no buys month! - vid to come!)

Jayme @ Her Late Night Cravings

    1. This palette is a must have! I don't blame you for breaking your no-buy :)

  2. I have been so on the fence about getting this! I only have Naked 2, but I feel like 2 of the 6 shades here wouldn't show up on me. I have to try swatching it! I'm hoping SDM stocks it again. :)

It looks great on you! :)

    1. Definitely swatch it first, but I find the lighter shades are still great for lightening up a look, and as all over lid shades :)

  3. Need to check this out. I wear a lot of nude eyeshadows ... this might be a perfect palette for me.
