Maybelline Color Tattoo Pure Pigment - Potent Purple

Today I have another one of Maybelline's new Color Tattoo Pure Pigments, this time in the shade Potent Purple*! I'm really excited to see a drugstore company releasing pigments, as it's usually a product reserved for higher end brands. Now, pigments are affordable, and they come from the trusted Color Tattoo line!

These Pure Pigments come housed in little black plastic pots that contain 1.5 grams of products. The bottom of the jars are colour coded to the product inside, and the lids are black with the shade name and number. The jar itself has a clear lid with several holes, so you can easily shake out the pigment into the lid without creating a mess.

I apply these Pure Pigments with a Sigma E55, which is a dense shadow brush, perfect for packing on colour. Unlike the shade Wild Gold, I did not experience much fall-out with Potent Purple. Needless to say, I was pleasantly surprised by this! I started my eye look off with Maybelline's Color Tattoo in Inked in Pink. These cream shadows make the perfect base to apply the Pure Pigments over top of, and give the pigments something to stick to. I then applied Inglot's shadows in the shades 40 and 48, and I finished off my look with Maybelline's Color Tattoo Pure Pigment in Potent Purple. This pigment adds a bold splash of colour to any eye look. Potent Purple is a beautiful blue based purple shade with a hint of shimmer. I really like this eye look as it screams Spring and Summer!

I do wish that these Pure Pigments were a bit more pigmented, as I find the original Color Tattoos extremely pigmented. However, these Pure Pigments are very easy to use, so I don't mind the slightly toned down colour. True to the Color Tattoo line, these Pure Pigments really do stay on all day long. My eye shadow looks the same in the evening as it didn't in the morning, and only comes off when I use my Bioderma at night. If you have oily eyelids, I highly recommend trying out Maybelline's Color Tattoo line!

These Pure Pigments are launching May 2013 in Canada, and will cost you $8.99 for 1.5g. Do you have your eyes on any of the shades in the Pure Pigment line? I have my eyes on Pink Rebel, Never Fade Jade, and Buff & Tuff.

  1. Still no sign here but you are right, we thought that these would be crazy pigmented.

    1. I heard they aren't releasing until June or July in the States! While they aren't crazy pigmented, they're great for people who are new to pigments, like me!

  2. This looks great! I really like this one (and your gold one the other day)! The purple looks great and I love the idea of pigment shadow!

  3. I picked up a couple of these the other day. Mostly the more neutral shades. I hardly wear pigments because they're often messy. But I agree with you -- these are actually quite manageable. Love the look you did here :) x

    1. I really want to try out some of the more neutral shades :) Thanks so much!
