Sephora + Pantone Universe Spectral Lacquer - Purple Wine

Sephora has a great collaboration with Pantone Universe, bringing us the SpectraLight Collection for Summer 2013. There are three polishes in this collection, called Spectral Lacquer ($12 CAD). I have the shade Purple Wine* to share with you today, and it's absolutely beautiful!

"Always be on trend with these shade shifting nail lacquers. This nail lacquer is easy to apply and provides colour-shifting reflections that can change depending on the lighting. Wear along or use as a top coat to add a holographic look to any of your favourite shades. Available in Purple Wine, Waterfall, and Antique Gold."

Purple Wine is a beautiful mix of purple and iridescent blue. In person, this polish looks mostly purple, but the blue undertones come to life in the light. The formula for this polish was really lovely, and I used three coats for a full coverage look. I probably could have stopped at two coats, but I decided to add the third just for safe measure. I also added OPI's Top Coat to give my nails a nice shiny finish. This polish dried quickly, and I didn't have any issued with bald spots or dragging at the cuticles.

I haven't tried using this as a top coat over another polish yet, but I love that idea! I'll try it out soon, and let you know how it works. I absolutely love the way this polish changes colours depending on how the light is hitting my nails. This is such a perfect polish to wear in the Summer months, as your nails will always look slightly different in the sun.

Have you tried any shade-shifting polishes before? What ones are your favourite? Purple Wine and the SpectraLight Collection is only available for a limited time, so scoop up any shades that catch your eye! :)
