OPI First Date at the Golden Gate

OPI has recently released their San Francisco Collection for Fall 2013, and today I have the shade First Date at the Golden Gate* to share with you! I have quite a few red polishes in my collection, but for some reason I never find myself reaching for them. I normally opt for either a pink or purple over a red polish. However, I almost always enjoy wearing red once I have it on... weird! Does this happen to anyone else, or just me?

OPI's First Date at the Golden Gate is a mid-toned red that has some slight orange undertones. The formula was a bit thin, so I opted to use 3 coats for a more full coverage finish. This formula was almost like a jelly polish, but it is a bit thicker and doesn't have as high of a shine. I have to say that I wasn't overly impressed with the formula of this polish. It wasn't horrible, but it did take a bit of work to get it right.

This polish had really great wear-time, and it actually lasted on all 10 of my nails even after I hand washed the car! I didn't have a single chip even after 4 days of wear, which almost never happens on my nails. This shade of red is a really nice transition colour going from Summer into Autumn. I'm not ready for Summer to end, I'm still loving the sun and hot weather!
Have you picked up any of OPI's new San Francisco shades? Which ones are your favourites?

  1. I'm not really in love with this colour or formula, though I do like OPI, I'll be skipping on this one. Peace & Love & OPi does look nice though!
