Lush Demon in the Dark Soap

I recently posted about Lush's Halloween offerings for 2013, and I included their Demon in the Dark Soap* ($7.95/100g). This soap is available year round, but it also fits in perfectly with the Halloween theme! I normally opt for shower gels, but I do like switching it up and using a good old bar of soap every once in a while.

"It’s not really a Demon; it’s more of an earthy tingly delight for the skin and a wicked refreshment for the senses. Wrapped in a layer of black wax, (which you peel off before you use it, or you won’t get clean!), underneath lies a forest green cleansing treat to suds up dirt-demons. We make it with fresh mint and antioxidant-rich fresh organic apple juice to stimulate the surface of the skin and leave it brighter and cleaner. We then perfume it with invigorating peppermint, stimulating spearmint and warming clove bud. Let it unleash the power within you!" - Lush

As Lush mentions, you do need to peel off the thin layer of black wax that encompasses this bar of soap. I actually didn't realize this until after I used this soap for the first time! Definitely try to remember to remove the wax, because it it's left on the soap won't lather. After I removed the wax, the soap worked a lot better (surprise, surprise!), and it lathered well. Demon in the Dark is a very strong scent, and to me it mostly smells like menthol. There is apple juice in this formula, but unfortunately I can't detect any apple notes. Demon in the Dark cleans my skin really well, but I do wish that it was a bit more hydrating. I find that this soap leaves my skin with that "squeaky clean" feeling, so following up with a moisturizer is a must!

Have you tried Lush's Demon in the Dark soap? I think that a slab of this soap would make a really cute Halloween gift for your significant other or child. Lush's soaps are quite pricey, so they definitely are a nice treat to have around the house! What is your favourite Lush soap? :)
