Bite Beauty High Pigment Matte Pencil in Rhubarb

Last week I reviewed Bite Beauty's Best Bite Set, which includes their High Pigment Matte Pencil in the shade Rhubarb ($28 CDN/0.09oz). This was my favourite shade from the set, and I thought I would share my full thoughts on it with you today!

Bite Beauty High Pigment Matte Pencil in Rhubarb

"Made with a double-dose of premium micronized pigments, this lip pencil delivers a modern matte look. This lip color delivers super antioxidant resveratrol, which fights free radicals with potent long-term antiaging benefits. Each lip pencil contains the amount of resveratrol found in five glasses of red wine. This product is free of synthetics, polybutenes, and petroleum byproducts and made exclusively with lip nurturing food-grade ingredients that are healthy enough to eat." - Sephora

I love that Bite Beauty's products are all actually edible - although I would never intentionally eat my lipstick! But this does make me feel better about the products that I put on my lips, as you do ultimately unintentionally ingest at least a bit of your lipstick each day. The High Pigment Matte Pencils come in sleek twist-up packaging, meaning that you'll never have to bother with a sharpener. I think that's a major selling point for these lip pencils over some of the other pencils on the market that you have to sharpen (ahem, NARS).

The shade Rhubarb is a gorgeous plummy rose that is absolutely perfect for the Fall and Winter months. Bite does describe this as a matte shade, but I think that it still leaves my lips with a bit of a shiny finish. Even though this is somewhat matte, I don't find it to be too drying like most mattes are. This berry lip is very easy to wear, and I think that it would look great on most skin tones. The pencil/chubby stick format makes this shade easy to apply, even on the go. This formula from Bite does hydrate my lips for about 2 hours, and then I feel like I need to apply a balm or gloss over top. The colour itself does last for about 4-5 hours, which I find is quite good. This pencil is incredibly pigmented, as the name suggests. You only need to go over your lips once to be left with an opaque colour. I do recommend using a lip liner first, because these pencils are so creamy that they can transfer. Also, I find that these lip pencils apply best to completely bare lips. I've tried applying them over top of lip balms, and they just don't transfer any colour that way.

Overall, I really love the shade Rhubarb. These pencils are definitely pricey, but they are still a bit cheaper than NARS' Lip Pencils. I love how easy they are to apply, and the colour selection is pretty great - there's bound to be something for everyone! Have you tried anything from Bite before? I'm wanting to try out more products from the brand! :)

  2. I just received my Sephora VIB order with this Bite set in it. I really love how smooth the application is. Great value to try out 4 shades before running out to buy the full-sized product which I'm sure I will when I've used these up.

    1. Thanks! I just bough the NARS lip pencil set, and I really wish that they were twist up as well! Sharpening is just so annoying and you lose a lot of product that way!
