I recently shared my Sephora Friends & Family Haul (link), in which I showed the Sephora Favorites Superstars Set. This set contains a bunch of great best-selling products, including Deborah Lippmann's Glitter Nail Lacquer in the shade Cleopatra in New York ($22 CDN)! I've only used one Deborah Lippmann polish before, in the shade Some Enchanted Evening (reviewed here), so I was really excited to try another polish from the brand!
Deborah Lippmann's Cleopatra in New York is a beautiful black jelly polish with gold glitter pieces in varying sizes. The other Deborah Lippmann glitter polish that I own is better worn as a top coat, but Cleopatra in New York is opaque in 2-3 coats. I did add OPI's Top Coat over this glitter polish to add some extra shine and bring out the sparkle of the gold glitter! I loved that Cleopatra in New York required very little work; the glitter pieces applied evenly without having to fish around in the bottle for glitters. This polish dried fairly quickly, in about 5 minutes. I love the combination of the black and gold, it's not something that I find myself wearing on my nails too often but I'm really enjoying it! I also love Deborah Lippmann's nail polish bottles, they're so beautiful (as they should be, at $22 a bottle!). This shade was released as a part of Deborah Lippmann's Holiday 2012 Collection, but it appears to be included in the permanent range now.
Overall, I'm really impressed with Deborah Lippmann's Cleopatra in New York. The combination of black and gold is stunning, and I actually really like the jelly base! I'm really glad that a full size bottle of this came in the Superstars set, because $22 is quite pricey for a nail polish. I really do love Deborah Lippmann's glitter polishes, and if you're looking to treat yourself or a friend, they're definitely a great option.
Have you tried any of Deborah Lippmann's polishes before? If so, what are your favourite shades? Do you think they're worth the hefty price tag? :)
Very good.
