MAKE UP FOR EVER Midnight Glow Palette

MAKE UP FOR EVER has released their limited edition Midnight Glow Palette* ($48 CAD) just in time for the holidays! This new palette comes packaged in a sleek rectangular case, which is very similar to their previous Technicolor Palette (reviewed here). This palette also includes two small brushes, and I was honestly really disappointed to see that they weren't the new Artisan brushes! However, these are still better brushes than what is included in most palettes.

"The Midnight Glow Palette is a limited edition, 8 eye shadow palette featuring 6 new shades with a diamond finish to create a magnetic festive look.6 new shades are made of a new formula of Diamond Eye Shadows to create an extreme shine for a festive eye look: 2 “It Shades” Gun Metal and Gold Pink, 4 soft cool colors made of Midnight Purple, Snow White, Icy blue and Icy pink. 2 shades are existing must-have Matte Black and Metallic Taupe. The color range lets you create a variety of looks from the most natural to dramatic with a highly pigmented, luminous result. The palette includes 2 exclusive mini eye brushes with new cutting edge synthetic fibers." - MAKE UP FOR EVER

MAKE UP FOR EVER's Midnight Glow Palette contains 8 shadows that all work quite well together. The pigmentation of these shadows is good, but I honestly wasn't blown away. The fourth shade in the palette, Icy Pink looks beautiful in the pan, but the colour doesn't show up very well on the eyes. This shadows feels a bit dry, and you do have to work with it. Other shades in the palette are creamier, such as Gold Pink, Black, and Midnight Purple. The highlight shade, Snow White, is extremely glittery, so I wouldn't recommend using it as a brow bone highlight. Since these shadows aren't overly pigmented, it is easier to create a more natural eye look, and they might be a great option for someone just getting into eye shadow. I do like to always wear a cream shadow with all of my powder shadows, and when used in that way these shadows do stay looking great all day long.

Overall, I think this palette is good, but for the price I do believe that there are better palettes on the market. These shadows look gorgeous in the pan, but the formulation just isn't quite where I wanted it to be. When I think MAKE UP FOR EVER, I think highly pigmented colour, and this just wasn't the case with the Midnight Glow Palette. If you like a very natural look, this palette might work wonderfully for you.

Have you tried out MUFE's Midnight Glow Palette? What has been your favourite new palette this holiday season?
