Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder - Sandstorm

I've recently completely used up my compact of Maybelline's The Perfector Powder (reviewed here), and now I'm trying out Rimmel's Stay Matte Pressed Powder in the shade Sandstorm*. I've heard a ton of rave reviews on this product, and it seems to have an almost cult following. I don't have oily skin, but I still do prefer mattifying powders.

"Up to 5 hours natural shine control with natural minerals. Helps minimize the appearance of pores. Dermatologically tested" - Rimmel

I have the shade 004 Sandstorm, but I do find that this powder has very little colour payoff. I usually just turn to my powders to set my foundation and concealer, so I'm perfectly fine with this. If you're looking for a medium to full coverage powder, this one won't be for you. However, if you're looking for a powder to keep your makeup in place all day long and control shine, you need to try out this powder. Like I've said, I don't have very oily skin, but I still love the silky feeling of this powder on my skin, and it does help to set my makeup and keeps my skin looking great all day long. This compact comes with 14g of product, which is a lot! Just for reference, my Maybelline The Perfector Powder contained 8.5g of product.

The packaging of this powder is less than ideal; the plastic lid doesn't snap shut, it just sort of sits on top of the compact. I wouldn't recommend travelling with this powder, as it also doesn't have a mirror or an applicator. I use a round fluffy brush to apply this powder all over my face.

Have you tried this popular Stay Matte Pressed Powder from Rimmel? If you have oily skin, I highly recommend giving this a try. It's a great price, and you get a ton of product in this compact! What is your favourite pressed powder? :)

  2. I agree with the lid dilemma, only just last week mine shattered after travelling from Uni to home with it :( Though as I'm so pale, I have to use the translucent one :) This was my review of it: http://crazyblondegal.blogspot.co.uk/2013/08/rimmel-stay-matte-pressed-powder.html

    1. Oh no, that sucks! I hope they'll repackage it into something a bit more sturdy.
I'll check out your review now :)

  3. I travel with mine and a travel kabuki (when I bother to take powder with me at all), honestly it's so cheap I don't mind if something happens to it although it would make a mess. But yeah I think I have the translucent one too but I love it, great powder! I am working on a Maybelline one at the moment though... I think I am about to hit pan... soon! SO excited!

    1. That's true, at this price it's not a huge deal if something happens to it!
Oh hitting pan is always exciting! It took me about 7 months to completely finish my Maybelline powder!

  4. I agree about the packing. I had a rimmel powder a few years ago. Sadly the kid fell off and ended up putting such a large dent in the powder that it cracked :-( Xx
