"Exotic Nectar Oil Treatment is a light-weight treatment that restores natural shine and lustre making hair silky and shiny without feeling greasy.
Styling Tip: Apply a small amount to wet hair and distribute evenly. Style as usual. To control frizz, put a few drops in palm and smooth over hair as needed.
Silicone Free: Other anti frizz serums are derived from silicone dioxide, which is what sand is made of. Although natural to begin with, silicone dioxide undergoes a high level of chemical processing to be used as a cosmetic ingredient and as a result is undesirable due to the large ecological footprint produced. In addition, certain silicones, called siloxanes negatively impact aquatic life." - Live Clean
I've used quite a few different hair oils throughout the years, so I was quite surprised when I first squirted out this product into my palms. This product definitely feels more like a gel, and less like an oil. I was very skeptical when I noticed the texture, but nonetheless, I decided to still give it a try. I ran this gel through my locks, and let my hair air dry as usual. Once my hair had fully dried, I noticed that my hair felt a bit crunchy and it wasn't as soft as it normally is. It wasn't horrible, but I was disappointed with the results. I was really hoping that this product would be a winner, given it's great price point, and that it's made by a Canadian company. However, I just can't recommend this product. I think that Live Clean would be better off marketing this product as a gel infused with argan oil, as that's closer to the truth of what it is.
I don't like posting negative reviews on my blog, but I do think that it's important to share not only stand out products, but also the products that I think you should avoid and not spend your money on. Have you tried Live Clean's Exotic Nectar Treatment Argan Oil? Did you like it, or were you left wanting more?
i always appreciate your honesty, even when you don't like a product, it makes me trust all your reviews, so i think it's important to have balance (i have a negative review going up in the morning as well). in the case of this product, it doesn't even necessarily seem like a bad product, just a badly marketed one. i haven't tried anything from live clean before but the brand definitely has my interest from your reviews.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much! Exactly, if it was marketed as a gel, it would be a very different story. But when I use an oil, I expect an oily texture/formula! :)
DeleteThanks for the honest review! I'll have to skip on this one!
