Maybelline Color Elixir - Glistening Amber

In my opinion, Maybelline's Color Elixir's have been one of the most exciting lip releases lately - from both the drugstore and high end brands! I've been in love with the shade Signature Scarlet, and now I'm obsessed with the shade Glistening Amber* ($10.99 CAD).

Maybelline Color Elixir Glistening Amber on Lips

Maybelline's new Color Elixir Color Elixir's combine a balm, lipstick, and lip gloss into one product. What I love about this formula is that it really feels like you are just wearing a lip balm, but you get a very pigmented colour and a glossy finish! I find that the formula is very hydrating, and I think that it would even work on dry, chapped lips. The shade Glistening Amber is a beautiful shimmery gold-nude with orange undertones and golden shimmer throughout the formula. This shade is on the sheer side, but with a shade like this I do tend to prefer a sheerer application. Glistening Amber is beautiful on its' own, but it could also be paired over top of a nude or peachy lipstick. I find that this formula lasts for about 4 hours on my lips before starting to fade, and it can even withstand light eating and drinking.

I absolutely love the packaging of these new Color Elixirs! The plastic rectangular tube is clear, and shows the colour in the middle. It looks as though a lipstick bullet is encapsulated inside the packaging, it's really cool! The applicator is also quite interesting, this is how Maybelline describes the applicator: "Magic Wand: A leaf-shape, 180 degrees of flexibility, and a mix of long and short fibers, makes application soft, precise, and delivers a high-shine finish."

Overall, I highly recommend these new Color Elixirs from Maybelline! I absolutely love how creamy and plush this formula feels on my lips. The shade Glistening Amber is so easy to wear, and it can be applied without a mirror and on the go. There are 20 shades in Maybelline's Color Elixir line, meaning there's most likely something for everyone! I can't wait to try out the shades Hibiscus Haven, Dashing Orchid, and Caviar Couture. Have you tried any of Maybelline's new Color Elixirs yet? What shades are your favourites? :)
