Philip B Oud Royal Forever Shine Shampoo & Conditioner

I've recently finished off my bottles of Kevin.Murphy's Luxury Wash & Rinse (reviewed here), and I've moved on to other products. I really enjoy trying out different shampoos and conditioners, and seeing what works best for my hair. Lately I've been trying out Philip B's Oud Royal Forever Shine Shampoo* ($75/7.4 oz.) and Oud Royal Forever Shine Conditioner* ($85/6 oz.), which as you can tell by the price tags are luxury products. The science and technology behind these products is very fascinating, and they really do work!

Philip B Oud Royal Forever Shine Shampoo & Conditioner

"The first-ever time-released shampoo for MegaBounce and shine that keeps on giving.
A revolutionary innovation in hair care. PHILIP B® Oud Royal Forever Shine Shampoo contains time-released botanical hydrators, molecules tiny enough to pass through the fiber of your hair and moisturize each strand from the inside out. Just one use will make a remarkable difference in the overall look and feel of your hair. Think thicker, glossier and bouncier than ever before – and the effect lasts for days!" - Philip B

Philip B's Oud Royal Forever Shine Shampoo comes packaged in a tall plastic bottle with gold labelling. This shampoo has that classic salon scent, with a slightly floral hint to it. The scent does linger lightly for a day or two, which I really enjoy. This formula is quite thick, and it's incredibly moisturizing without leaving my hair feeling oily. This shampoo is a golden yellow colour with golden shimmers - however, the shimmer doesn't show up in my hair after I rinse out the shampoo. I keep this shampoo on my hair for a minute or two to allow the moisture to penetrate my strands.

"A revolutionary innovation in hair care. PHILIP B® Oud Royal Forever Shine Conditioner contains time-released botanical hydrators, molecules tiny enough to pass through the fiber of your hair and moisturize each strand from the inside out. Powered by a botanical delivery system (made with natural Safflower Oleosomes) for your fullest hair ever and an amazingly glossy shine that goes on for days." - Philip B

This conditioner has the same scent and colour as the shampoo, but this is packaged in a sleek plastic tube. This formula is quite thick, and it can be a bit hard to work into damp hair. However, this product is very luxurious and creamy, and it does an excellent job hydrating my hair. I keep this conditioner in my hair for about 5 minutes, and then rinse it out. Philip B recommends using this conditioner after every other shampoo. You can also use this as a leave in conditioner on dry hair. I love it for this purpose, as it leaves my hair feeling so soft, shiny, and it adds a bit of texture. When used on dry hair, the shimmer in the formula does lightly stay in my hair, adding a soft sheen. I love that this conditioner is dual purpose, I've never used anything like this!

When I use this duo together, my hair is left incredibly hydrated, and I feel as though I can skip using as many styling products. This formula leaves my natural waves looking a bit more defined, and my frizz is reduced significantly. While I really love these products, the price point just doesn't fit into my student budget. However, if you had some spare cash and you were wanting to splurge on a high quality shampoo & conditioner, I highly recommend trying out Philip B's Oud Royal Forever Shine line. This formula might be too heavy for someone with very fine or thin hair, but I absolutely love it on my dry and damaged locks.

Have you tried any products from Philip B before? I would love to hear any recommendations that you had! Do you enjoy investing in shampoos & conditioners, or do you stick to more affordable options from the drugstore? I always used to assume that any old formula from the drugstore was good enough for my hair, but now that I'm trying out more luxurious formulas I can really tell the difference!
