Products I Want to Use Up in 2014

It's a new year, and I'm making a few new makeup rules for myself. Lately I've started to notice just how much makeup that I own, and I'm wanting to try to start using up a few makeup products in my stash. I do write monthly empties posts, and makeup items do make it into those posts every now and again. However, I mostly finish up skincare, haircare, etc. Instead of constantly acquiring new makeup items, I want to start focusing on what I have. I've selected a few items from my makeup collection that I've either hit pan on, that are close to empty, or that I've had for quite a while. Here's what I've selected!

1. Boxx Cosmetics Bronzer in Kala (reviewed here) - I absolutely love this light bronzer, and I've been using it daily for the past few months. As you can see, I have hit major pan on this bronzer, and I know that I can completely finish it up in the next month or two.

2. NARS Albatross (reviewed here) - I've been using this gorgeous highlighter for almost 2 years now, and again, I've hit major pan. Albatross gives a beautiful golden glow to my cheekbones, and I reach for it on a daily basis. Since I am so close to finishing it up, I do want to stick with it and see it through.

3. Maybelline Fit Me Bronzer in Medium Bronze* (reviewed here) - This is another really nice bronzer, at a great drugstore price. I've hit a small amount of pan on this bronzer, and I know that it won't take too long to use the rest of it up.

4. MAKE UP FOR EVER Pro Finish* (reviewed here) - I've been using this daily as a finishing powder, after applying foundation and concealer. This product instantly smooths out your complexion, but I don't think that it offers enough coverage to use alone as a foundation. I really love this as a finishing powder, but I have hit major pan and it will run out fairly soon.

5 & 6. Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Eraser in Light and Brightening (reviewed here) - I absolutely love these concealers, and I've gone through a few tubes before. As you can see, I've used the majority of both of these concealers, as I do reach for them daily.

7. Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation (reviewed here) - This just might be my holy grail foundation, but it does contain SPF, and therefore has an expiry date on the bottle. I want to use up the last third of my bottle before it expires, so I have been reaching for this daily.

8. NARS Larger Than Life Long-Wear Eyeliner in Campo De'Fiori (reviewed here) - This is a gorgeous gold liner that I love to pop on my lower lash line. This little bit is all that I have left, as I do reach for it almost daily.

9. Benefit Sun Beam (reviewed here) - I've been adding a small amount of this bronzey liquid highlighter into my Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation. I love the soft, subtle glow that this adds to my skin, but my bottle is almost done.

10. Benefit Full-Finish Lipstick in Mod Squad (reviewed here) - This shade has been in my collection for a few years, and I rediscovered it last month. I've reached for this beautiful pale pink lipstick for every single day for the past month or so, and there's only a little bit left.

11. OPI Charged Up Cherry - This polish has been in my collection for a few years, and I love using it as a pedicure colour. I'm about a third way through this bottle, and I figure that I can get through it in 2014 if I use it consistently as a pedicure shade.

12. MAKE UP FOR EVER Rouge Artist Intense #18* (reviewed here) - This is a beautiful coppery gold lipstick, but it has been in my collection for almost two years. I want to focus on using this lipstick more regularly before it goes off!

13. Urban Decay Lip Junkie Lipgloss in Naked (reviewed here) - I just have a sample size of this gloss, but it still contains a ton of product. This shade actually pairs beautifully with MUFE's Rouge Artist Intense #18, so I will be pairing those two together!

14. Maybelline Baby Lips in Pink Punch (reviewed here) - I really love this pale pink lip balm/stick. The Baby Lips line is really nice and creamy, but this does contain SPF and therefore it does have an expiry date. I want to make sure that I start to use this more before it expires!

15. Too Faced Perfect Eyes Waterproof Eyeliner in Perfect Black (reviewed here) - This liner came with their Return of Sexy Palette, and I have owned it for a while now. I absolutely love this creamy black liner, and I want to use it up before it dries out.
16. Maybelline Master Shape Brow Pencil in Blonde - I love how this pencil combines wax and colour all in one, with the bonus spoolee on the end. I'm about half way through this pencil, and again I want to use it up before it dries out.

17. Sephora + Pantone Light Storm Liquid Shadow in Smoky Grape* (reviewed here) - This is an absolutely beautiful liquid shadow that I love to pair with other purple powder shadows. I'm about a third of the way through this tube, and I want to start using it more often.

18. Maybelline Dream Lumi Touch Highlighting Concealer - I haven't used this product in a while, and I want to bring it back into my daily routine! I am about half way through this tube, and I want to finish this off before purchasing any more concealers.

19. MAC Lustreglass in Star Nova (reviewed here) - I absolutely love this shade, and it pairs beautifully over so many lipsticks that I own. I'm about a third of the way through this gloss, and I know that I can finish it off this year. I just own so many lip glosses that I want to start using up the ones in my stash and stop purchasing more!

So there you have it, all of the makeup products that I'll be trying to use up in 2014! Obviously most of these products won't take the entire year to use up (hopefully), so once I use up a number of items, I'll add in other products. I'll update you on my progress every couple of months. I'm not banning myself from buying new makeup, but I do want to start purchasing less and focus on what I already own. Do you have any products that you're currently trying to use more often and use up?

  2. oh I love these posts! I have a "project pan" post in the works, just took my photos. It includes a lot of stuff that isn't makeup because that is also stuff I need to stop buying (showergel, etc) but makeup is definitely the hardest to finish. I figure I'll start with what's in my post and figure it out as I go. I definitely threw in a few "almost empty" type empties to give me some motivation. I know I'll be tempted to repurchase some of the items once they are finished but I have so much more in my collection to use up too.

    1. Oh I can't wait to see your project pan post! I also have a ton of shower gels, lotions, hair products, etc. that I need to use up, but I thought for now I'd focus on makeup! :)

  3. I want to try and make use of the make up I have this year rather than always buying something new... I know it's exciting and so hard but the shade selection I have in red lipsticks is ridiculous for example - I do not need any more!!

    1. Exactly! Once I'm done with these products I have other items in my collection that can replace them in my makeup routine, I don't need to repurchase right away!

  5. Such a good idea, I really should do this too and almost empties is much more motivational — I never really hit pan on a lot of things but I guess I need to start using them if I want to.

  6. Hopefully you manage to finish these! I always hit pan on my high end products, then feel guilty for trying to finish them off because I feel bad for throwing out the packaging when I'm done :( (Looking at you, NARS)

    1. Thanks for the motivation! I know what you mean, it's always a bit heartbreaking to finish off something that was really pricey!
