The Body Shop Vitamin E Cool BB Cream

This past year, The Body Shop has released their Vitamin E Cool BB Cream* ($18 CDN/50ml), and I've been trying it out! BB Creams are one of those products that you seem to either love or hate, but for the most part I'm a fan of them. I like to reach for BB creams on the weekends, or when I just want a light amount of coverage!

"Meet our skincare hero, Vitamin E Cool BB Cream. Our new take on BB cream illuminates, evens skin tone and protects with moisture for 12 hours. Available in one cool shade, the lightweight texture will effortlessly blend onto skin for a fresh and natural look.
  • Hydrates to protect
  • Evens tone
  • Fresh-looking skin
  • One cool shade" - The Body Shop

The Body Shop's Vitamin E Cool BB Cream comes packaged in a small tube that contains 50ml. The texture and colour of this BB cream reminds me a lot of Garnier's Skin Renew BB Cream (reviewed here). The Body Shop's Vitamin E Cool BB Cream is fairly thick in consistency, and the colour initially looks like it would be too dark for my fair skin tone. This product does only come in one single shade, which I think is a bit silly - we can't all fit into a single skin tone! However, with a bit of blending, I can get this BB Cream to look natural on my skin. I think that this shade would work best for light-medium skin tones.

Since this product is from The Body Shop's Vitamin E range, you can expect it to be quite hydrating. I love that even though this BB Cream packs some serious hydration, it doesn't leave my skin looking or feeling oily/greasy. This BB Cream dries to a semi-matte finish, and it does last all day long on my skin. I find that The Body Shop's Vitamin E Cool BB Cream gives my skin a light amount of coverage, and I don't find that I'm able to build the coverage at all. I've been wearing this BB Cream on days when I don't want/need a lot of coverage, or as a base underneath other foundations. This BB Cream does even out my skin tone and hydrate my skin. If you're looking for a medium-full coverage product, this isn't for you. Since this is a BB Cream, I do expect some skincare benefits that I wouldn't find in a normal foundation. I wish that The Body Shop had added an SPF to this formula, as I find that's a major perk of most BB Creams.

Overall, I do like this BB Cream from The Body Shop, but I would love to see some other shades in the range, and some level of SPF in the formula. If you are very pale or have a darker skin tone, this shade probably won't work for you. However, if you have very dry skin, this BB Cream is very hydrating without being oily. I would recommend trying this out in store to see if the formula works for you before purchasing a tube. Have you tried The Body Shop's Vitamin E Cool BB Cream yet? Are you a fan of BB Creams?
