MAKE UP FOR EVER HD Pressed Powder

Happy Friday everyone! MAKE UP FOR EVER recently released their HD Pressed Powder* ($41 CAD/6.2g), which is a sister to their HD Loose Powder (reviewed here). I already love the loose version, so I was really excited to try out the pressed version. Pressed products are often a bit easier to use as loose powders can be a bit messy at times. Read on to see how I liked this new powder...

"What it is: A silky, lightweight finishing powder that softens the appearance of fine lines and pores.

What it does: Created specifically for HD technology, this talc-free professional touch-up powder is perfect for use throughout the day to reduce shine and slightly mattify skin. It adds a soft-focus, naturally radiant effect to blur imperfections, such as fine lines and pores, while remaining completely invisible to even the most magnified HD lens.

What else you need to know: Ideal for all skin types, this powder is available in one universal shade for all skintones and is formulated with hyaluronic acid to help prevent skin dehydration. Apply a small amount using a Kabuki brush." - Sephora

I use MAKE UP FOR EVER's HD Pressed Powder as a last step in my beauty routine. I'll apply my foundation, concealer, blush, bronzer, etc., and then I'll used this pressed powder to set my makeup for the day. I've been using MUFE's HD Kabuki Brush to apply this powder, as this allows me to really buff in the product. Just like the loose powder version, this new pressed powder blends seamlessly into my skin and it doesn't leave a white cast, and doesn't show up in flash photos. I love how this powder not only sets my makeup, but it seems to erase minor imperfections for a flawless finish. This formula slightly mattifies, but I don't really have issues with oily skin. This powder doesn't cling to dry patches, and I definitely think that it could be used by women and men with any skin type. Since there isn't really any colour to this powder, I think that it would suit any skin tone (although I haven't been able to test it out on darker skin tones). You only need to use the smallest amount of this powder to see results, so don't get too heavy handed. I do find that this pressed formula works in the same way as MUFE's loose powder, so it will really come down to individual preference. I personally prefer the pressed formula, as it's a bit easier to use.

If you're looking for a powder to perfect, minimize pores, control oils, and keep your makeup looking great all day long, then this powder is for you! I do wish that this powder was a bit more affordable, as $41 is quite expensive. However, you do only need to use the smallest amount, so this compact should last me a long time. Have you been tempted by MAKE UP FOR EVER's new HD Pressed Powder? Do you prefer pressed or loose powder?

  1. I have the loose HD powder and it's...fine...but I find it easy to overdo. I think this would be a much better option for me, easier to control but still getting the benefit of setting my makeup.

  4. Since my skin tends to get super dry in the winter, I often don't set my makeup with anything. I will have to check this out once the weather gets warmer, I was a fan of the loose version.
