Next month, Nicole by OPI is launching their Roughles Collection (pronounced "ruffles"), and today I have the shade I'm Stucco On You* ($10.99 CAD) to share with you! These new polishes are to be worn without a top coat, and they dry to a matte finish. This formula is very similar to OPI's Liquid Sand, but the Roughles formula has a pebbled effect.
"This March, Nicole by OPI launches Roughles (“ruffles”) -- 4 new textured nail lacquers
featuring speckled, pastel shades of purple, pink, turquoise and yellow. When the lacquer dries,
Roughles lacquers reveal a unique pebbled finish. Roughles should be applied without a top coat to
achieve a matte effect.
“Chic pastels were a major trend throughout the runway collections at spring/summer 2014
shows and textured, matte nails are going to be one of the hottest looks this spring,” explains Suzi
Weiss-Fischmann, Nicole by OPI Executive VP & Artistic Director. “Wearing these feminine shades
on fingers and toes is a refreshing take on this trend. Pair these lacquers with candy colored fabrics and
flirty floral prints to really make a statement!” - Nicole by OPI
Nicole by OPI's I'm Stucco On You is a beautiful lavender, although the blue undertones are showing up a bit more in my photos. I used two coats of this polish for a fully opaque look. This formula is on the thicker side, and I'm interested to see if the bottles will dry out quickly (like OPI's shattered polishes tended to do). I really love Nicole by OPI's brush, it's just wide enough so that I can use two swipes per nail. At first, this polish looks quite shiny and wet, but it dries down quickly to a matte, pebbled look. Along with the lavender base, this polish has bits of blue and terra cotta, which really amp up the pebbled effect. What you see in my pictures is this polish on day 3, so this formula has great wearing power (especially considering you don't use a top coat with these!) The texture of this polish is bumpy, but it's not annoying or too rough.
Nicole by OPI's Roughles Collection (ugh! not a fan of that name!) hits store shelves March 2014, and there are four colours in this new formula. I've really been loving this polish, I think it's so fun! I love the hints of blue and terra cotta, as that really does jazz up the standard lavender colour. I also have the yellow shade "Sand In My Shoe" which I'll be trying out next! Will you be picking up any of Nicole by OPI's Roughles polishes? Are you a fan of textured polishes?
