Nicole by OPI Sand in My Shoe

Today I have another polish to share with you from Nicole by OPI's Roughles Collection (pronounced Ruffles) -  Sand in My Shoe* ($10.99 CAD). This new Roughles Collection includes four textured polishes that dry to a pebbled effect. I personally really love this look, but I know that many people might hate it! The shade Sand in My Shoe is a yellow with orange "pebbles".

“Chic pastels were a major trend throughout the runway collections at spring/summer 2014 shows and textured, matte nails are going to be one of the hottest looks this spring,” explains Suzi Weiss-Fischmann, Nicole by OPI Executive VP & Artistic Director. “Wearing these feminine shades on fingers and toes is a refreshing take on this trend. Pair these lacquers with candy colored fabrics and flirty floral prints to really make a statement!” - Nicole by OPI

I don't normally love yellow or orange polishes on their own, but I have to say that I'm really enjoying Nicole by OPI's Sand in My Shoe. The combination is just really pretty, and this will be a perfect polish for Summer. I used two coats of Sand in My Shoe to get an opaque colour. What I love most about textured polishes like this and OPI's Liquid Sand formula is the crazy quick dry time. Seriously, I can paint my nails and be fully functional in about two minutes! This formula initially applies to a wet look, and then dries down to a matte finish. Sand in My Shoe primarily has a yellow base with raised orange pebbles. You don't use a top coat with these polishes from the Roughles Collection, since it is supposed to be a matte finish. However, you can of course add a top coat if you wanted to. This would make your mani more glossy, and it would slightly reduce the textured look.

I'm really loving Nicole by OPI's Roughles Collection! Sand in My Shoe is very appropriate for Spring & Summer, and I quite enjoy the textured finish. I don't find that this type of finish is too hard to remove (definitely not as hard as glitter polishes). Have you worn a textured polish before? Are you a fan of Sand in My Shoe? :)

  1. I'm not entirely sure what I think about this collection -- the name is weird, the finish is...not really my thing. I think I prefer my textured polishes with a lot of glitter, so there's a ridiculous amount of visual interest.

This one kind of reminds me of Elvis' Jungle Room, and not in the awesome way that I feel about Elvis -- in the weird 70s way.

  2. I always read "rough-less" when I see Roughles, I just don't see the Ruffles, lol! I was never a big fan of yellow so this one really does nothing for me.

  3. It reminds me of Mac & Cheese with ketchup! Not sure how I feel about the textured polishes. Like K, I prefer mine jampacked with glitters!

  4. LOL at Mac & Cheese. I'm not usually a yellow polish fan, but this looks like it would be a nice change from glitter overload when you still want to be trendy.
