Splat Washables - Hot 4 Pink

I have naturally blonde hair, but since last Spring I've been dyeing my hair a dark brown colour. I've also chopped off 10 inches to donate, so I'm definitely not afraid to experiment with my hair! I've been playing around with Splat's Washables in Hot 4 Pink* ($8.99 CAD), which is a bright pink colour that washes out easily with shampoo. I absolutely love the idea of a temporary hair colour, so read on for my full review!

"Splat Washables are a fun way to add some colour to your hair. It's easy to apply, and washes out with shampoo. Adding colour to your hair has never been easier with our unique applicator brush - simply brush on the fun!" - Farley Co.

Splat's Washables come with a 1.5 oz tube of the temporary "dye" and a brush that resembles a large mascara wand. Splat does recommend using hair spray before and after the colour to help seal it in and prevent transferring. I squirt a bit of the colouring onto the brush, and run it through my dry hair. The bristles on the brush easily glides through my hair, applying the colour fairly evenly. I lie to apply colour to the ends of my hair, but you could easily apply it in any fashion that you wanted. The shade Hot 4 Pink is a bright, neon pink. I was really pleasantly surprised by how well this shade showed up on my dark hair! If you have blonde hair I can only imagine how well this colour will look.

When first applied, the colour does have a slightly "wet" look. After about 10 minutes the colour does fully dry. I do find that this formula leaves my hair feeling a bit gritty or dirty, but it isn't uncomfortable. I also find that the vibrancy of this color starts to fade after about 4 hours, turning into a pale pink shade. True to the claims, this colour does wash out easily with shampoo. However, the colour will also run out with plain old water - so don't get caught in the rain while wearing this!

I think that this is such a fun product, and it's a great way to experiment with hair colours without making a permanent change. If you find that you absolutely love this look, then you can be confident making the permanent change! I find this formula a lot easier to use than some hair chalks that I've used in the past - it only took me a few minutes to "dye" my ends! Have you tried any of Splat's Washables? Have you ever dyed your hair a fun colour? :)

  4. Looks great! I wasn't sure it would show up well on dark hair, so I've never tried. But it seems to be very vibrant.
