I've been really into trying out different primers recently, and the latest addition to my collection has been Clarins' Instant Light Complexion Illuminating Base in the shade 02 Champagne* ($37 CAD/1 oz.). This is a new product, which was released as a part of Clarins' new Opalescence Collection. There are three shades in this new formula, and I've been using the one meant to reduce redness.
"This base gives you a perfect complexion, all day long! It naturally illuminates and corrects your skin tone, in addition to hydrating and soothing the skin with katafray bark extract.
• The new "High-Lumitech" Complex brightens the complexion and illuminates shadows.• Three textures - rose (brightens all complexions), champagne (corrects redness) and peach (restores radiance to medium and matte skin) - ultra-sensitive makeup that casts a veil of corrective and enhancing light on the skin.
• Fast and easy to apply: in a few seconds, the complexion is naturally luminous, transparently enhanced. The skin recovers its vitality, freshness and suppleness." - Clarins
Clarins' Instant Light Complexion Illuminating Base comes packaged in a sleek tube with a pump dispenser. You can easily store this tube standing up on your vanity, so it doesn't take up too much room at all. The pump is easy to control, and you can dispense as much or as little product as you wanted. The shade Champagne initially looks quite yellow, but it actually blends into my skin flawlessly. This product doesn't provide very much coverage at all, but then again it's just a primer - not a foundation. I love how this primer works to blur my pores, neutralize any pink or red tones in my skin, and slightly brightens. You might be scared off my the term illuminating, but don't fear! This product isn't shimmery or glittery, it's merely pearly, adding a youthful essence to your skin.
I've tried this primer underneath light and full coverage foundations, and I love it both ways. If you have great skin and you want a no-makeup look, you could wear this base by itself. However, I still definitely want more coverage that only a foundation can provide. Clarins' Instant Light Complexion Illuminating Base helps to prolong the wear time of my foundation, which is always a welcomed benefit! This formula is hydrating, but I still do like to use a separate moisturizer. If you have very oily skin, you would probably be able to skip using a moistrizer with this product. You can also mix a drop of this into your foundation for even easier application.
If you're looking for a product to help blur imperfections, brighten your skin, and reduce redness, then this is a must try. I love the sleek packaging, and the shade Champagne really helps to perfect my skin tone. I'm also wanting to try out the shade Rose, which is meant to brighten complexions. Have you tried this new Instant Light Complexion Illuminating Base formula from Clarins, or anything else from the new Opalescence Collection? :)
I love the dispenser; always key when applying base products, as it's so easy to get too much (and you can't really put it back, most of the time). I think Champagne would be lovely, if not a tad too dark for my skin tone...it's definitely something I'd consider picking up, though -- I've been loving Clarins lately!
ReplyDeleteExactly! I hate pumps that are tricky to use! This one is perfect :)
DeleteThe swatch looks dark, but it really blends into my skin nicely and doesn't provide very much coverage at all. I think this would work on almost any skin tone since it blends in so nicely!
I love this packaging! Great review, i need to start paying more attention to Clarins! :)
