MAKE UP FOR EVER HD Blush #515

MAKE UP FOR EVER has recently released their all new HD Blush, and I've been trying out shade #515* ($31 CAD/0.09 oz). Initially, this tangerine shade scared me away, as it's not a blush shade that I would typically pick out for myself. However, I've been wearing this bright orange shade for a few days in a row, and I'm really enjoying it!

"What it is: An ultrablendable blush with a natural look and finish made specifically for HD technology.

What it does: Formulated with the perfect balance of oils, waxes, and powders, HD Blush combines the second skin look of a cream with the ease of a powder. Created for HD technology, this formula blends into skin with no visible texture for a truly natural flush of color. It’s completely weightless and can be worn over or under powder to flawlessly sculpt and highlight cheeks." - Sephora

MAKE UP FOR EVER HD Blush #515

MAKE UP FOR EVER's new HD Blushes come packaged in sleek black compacts that are quite small in size. This blush contains 0.09 oz (whereas Stila's Convertible Colors contain 0.15 oz, and Josie Maran's
Coconut Watercolor Cheek Gelées contain 0.18 oz), so you don't get a ton of product here. However, I don't generally go through my blushes all that often, so this isn't a huge concern of mine. I really like the cute black compact, and the pan is magnetic so you can easily depot it.

MAKE UP FOR EVER's HD Blush in 515 (Tangerine) is a bright orange cream blush. I've been using Real Techniques' Stippling Brush to apply this blush to my cheeks, as I find that this brush helps to create a flawless finish with all cream blushes. This formula is cream to powder, and it blends very easily, so you could use your fingers to apply it in a pinch. As you can imagine, you only need a small amount of this blush for a fairly bright finish. I love that this shade can be sheered out to flatter my lighter skin tone. I think that this shade would look incredible on darker skin tones as it can be built up in opacity and brightness. I do have noticeable pores on my cheeks, and I like that this formula doesn't accentuate them (but it also doesn't make them invisible). I have to admit that I was slightly disappointed by the wear time of this blush - it starts to fade around the 4-5 hour mark. If you want to make this formula last, I would recommend topping it off with a powder blush in a matching shade.

Overall, I really love the packaging of this blush, and I was surprised by how much I liked this bright colour. I do wish that this blush lasted a lot longer on my cheeks, as I generally don't ever have issues with my blush fading throughout the day. While this isn't my all time favourite blush formula, it was still really nice, and I'm wanting to try out some other shades in the range (210 and 330 have caught my attention!) Have you tried this new HD Blush formula from MAKE UP FOR EVER yet? I would love to hear your thoughts on this new product! :)

  1. Holy colour, batman! I received a lighter shade of this blush, and I agree, they do sheer out beautifully...but this is VIBRANT! At least it'll last forever, as a result...;)

  4. It looks so orange, but is quite natural on! I like how in recent years orange has become such a hot shade for lips and cheeks.

    1. I'm wondering if the lasting power differs from shade to shade... I've heard nothing but amazing reviews on the lasting power of this blush, so I was really surprised when mine faded so quickly.
Thanks for linking my review! :)

  11. Oh God, I would have been scared too with how intense the colour is of 515, but it sheered out to such a wonderful colour on you! I was wondering about the wear time...so it won't last a full day at work :-( I am still waiting for mine to arrive in the mail to test drive so we shall see!

    1. I've heard everyone else say that this formula lasts all day on their cheeks, but it just didn't for me (and I don't even have oily skin). Hope you have better staying power with your shade! :)
