Mary Kay At Play Lip Crayon - Coral Me Crazy

If you regularly ready my blog, then you might know that I love a good lip pencil. It's like the new craze that every beauty company is jumping on, and I'm not complaining! The latest product that I've tried out is Mary Kay's At Play Lip Crayon in Coral Me Crazy ($12/2.5 g).

"• Lip-synch to full-on glossy goodness with this crayon that also can double as a lip liner and lip colour.

• Delivers high impact colour and has the coverage of a lipstick with the shine of a lip gloss.

• Buildable shades glide on smoothly." - Mary Kay

Mary Kay's At Play Lip Crayons are packaged in a true pencil format that you have to sharpen - groan. Luckily, I have a jumbo Mary Kay sharpener that I've had for ages that works perfectly with this pencil. I do wish that this packaging was twist-up, as that would make everything a lot more convenient.

Coral Me Crazy is a beautiful -you guessed it- coral shade with golden shimmer and a slightly glossy finish. I find this formula a bit on the drier side, and if you look closely at my lip swatch you can see the product clinging to my dry patches. However, the shimmer and glossy finish do help to distract from any dryness that you might have. The colour of Coral Me Crazy is nicely pigmented with only one swipe, and I think it would be easy to apply on the go. While this product is a bit dry, I didn't find it uncomfortable to wear. The colour itself wears for about 5 hours on my lips, but I have to apply a balm or gloss after 2 hours.

Coral Me Crazy is a pretty colour and it would be great a Spring colour. If you're a huge Mary Kay fan, then you might want to try this out. However, I think that there are so many amazing lip pencils at the drugstore (Rimmel, Revlon, etc.), and this one from Mary Kay just didn't blow me away. Are you a fan of lip pencils? What do you look for in a good jumbo pencil? :)

    1. I'll still use pencils that you have to sharpen, but I definitely prefer twist ups!

  4. I actually don't mind pencils that you have to sharpen because then you always have a nice pointed tip. The twist up ones are awesome but they become flat pretty quick.

  5. I actually love the look of this! I'm not a big fan of shimmer for lip products, but this seems to have really small shimmer - I think I could handle it! I love the coral shade on you.

  7. Oh DEAR LORD, THAT COLOUR IS GORGEOUS. I definitely NEED this shade! A bit of a shame about the need to sharpen it though; I think this may be the only lip crayon that I know of that needs to be sharpened!

    1. Thanks Vanessa! The NARS pencils need to be sharpened, but there aren't too many others!

  8. I love lip products in pencil format because they're nice and simple to use. I prefer twist up rather than sharp ones though. This is a gorgeous colour!

  12. I have a big lip sharpener but it does not work on this marykayatplay pencil. The wood seems to be too hard. Do I have to purchase the me one now?

    1. Oh that's so strange! I haven't had any issues sharpening these jumbo pencils, but I do have a sharpener from Mary Kay. Not sure if that's what is making it easy though!
