Mary Kay Creamy Lip Color - Retro Rose

Last week I shared Mary Kay's Creamy Lip Color in Carefree Coral with you, and today I'm back with the shade Retro Rose* ($17/0.07 oz.). This lipstick is from Mary Kay's Hello, Sunshine! Collection, which will only be around for a limited time. The collection features retro baby blue packaging, which I actually really love!

"This season’s Limited-Edition Hello, Sunshine! Collection focuses on eyes and lips, with flirty lashes and warm washes of colour. Create expressive eyes with sunny colours on lids and soft, feminine lips with light roses and corals, and then finish the look with an ultra-trendy winged cat eye with our new Mary Kay Gel Liner. Don’t forget to show hands and feet a little love. Nail colours in creamy yellow and coral are all the rage this season." - Mary Kay

As I already mentioned in my review of Carefree Coral, Mary Kay's Creamy Lip Color is amazing. I love how creamy, pigmented, and comfortable to wear this lipstick is. This lipstick really feels like a hydrating balm, not like a traditional lipstick. The creamy formula doesn't settle into any dry patches or lines on my lips, and I get about four hours of hydration. The colour itself sticks around for about six hours, which I find really impressive!

Retro Rose is a pretty burgundy shade with brown undertones. This shade won't be for everyone, and I was surprised to see such a dark shade in a Spring Collection! However, I really like this shade for a night out, or for times when I just want something a little bit darker. This lipstick doesn't have any shimmer or glitter, but it does have a beautiful sheen to it. I also love that these lipsticks have a light vanilla scent to them - yum!

Once again, I'm thoroughly impressed with Mary Kay's Creamy Lip Color formula! If you could only get one shade from the new collection, I would recommend checking out Carefree Coral - it's just more seasonally appropriate. However, Retro Rose is a beautiful colour & perfect for those that don't like bright lips. Well done Mary Kay! :)

  1. This is a beautiful shade on you! I imagine it would work well as a neutral, pretty lip for any number of eye looks...smoky, neutral, bright. Very cool!
