I've always been intrigued by the Beauty Blender, but I've never wanted to drop that kind of cash on a makeup sponge. Enter Real Techniques' Miracle Complexion Sponge* ($9.99), a cheaper alternative to the Beauty Blender! I normally stick to makeup brushes to apply my foundation, but I decided to change things up and give this sponge a try.
The precision tip covers blemishes and imperfections. The flat edge is for the contours around the eyes and nose.
Its versatile design evenly blends makeup for a smooth, enhanced finish. Use with your favourite foundation to help reduce the appearance of pores." - Farley Co.
Real Techniques's Miracle Complexion Sponge is a bright orange oval shaped sponge that fits nicely into the palm of my hand. To use, I run the sponge under water, and then gently squeeze to remove all of the excess water. The sponge almost doubles in size! This sponge is really soft, and it feels nice against my skin. I've been using this with Estee Lauder's Double Wear Foundation, and the duo leaves my skin looking almost flawless. I do find that this sponge soaks up a bit of my foundation, so I end up using a bit more product than I typically do with a brush. I really love the different sides to this sponge - the pointed tip is great for applying product around the nose or to cover imperfections. I've also heard that you can use this sponge to apply cream blush, which I still have to try out! To clean the sponge, I've been using baby shampoo, just like I do with my brushes.
Overall, I think that this is a great little tool! I like using this sponge on days when I have a bit more time to apply my makeup, and I want a more flawless finish. I do find that it's easier and quicker to use a standard foundation brush, but if you like using a sponge, then this one is a great affordable option. Have you tried Real Techniques' Miracle Complexion Sponge, or any of the other sponges on the market?
I heard lots of great review on this. I have tried the Real Techniques beauty sponges before and really enjoy them before they were discontinued. Happy to see the new design. I am waiting for my Walmart to get this.
ReplyDeleteOh I didn't know that they used to have other sponges! Hopefully your Walmart gets these in soon :)
DeleteI love the beauty blender but ive been wanting a cheaper alternative! This sounds perfect! :)

DeleteI wonder how this would compare to my beloved Beauty Blender. hmmmm.
ReplyDeleteI wish I had the Beauty Blender to compare the two!
DeleteI enjoy my beauty blender but I don't use it on a daily basis. I did want to try this RT sponge, but I can't find it any time I'm at Ulta lol

It seems as though it's hard to find! Probably because it's so popular & keeps selling out!

I no longer feel the need to try the beauty blender after using this one! :)
DeleteI love my Real Techniques sponge! To be honest, it's replaced my beauty blender. I'm going to buy a couple more of these, and use them instead of investing in another Beauty Blender!

It's good to know that they're comparable! I don't see myself splurging on the beauty blender now! :)
DeleteI've not used a sponge for foundation in years and I'm so intrigued by giving these a go and definitely think Real Techniques is a good starting point… maybe it's time to add one to my collection.

I know, this was my first time using a sponge in years!! RT is a great affordable brand :)
DeleteI definitely need to try this!
ReplyDeleteYes you do! :)
DeleteOne of my favourite things to do with my sponges is, post makeup application, give it a quick roll 'round my cheeks, etc. to ensure everything is well blended. This one looks awesome -- the point is key to a smooth, flawless application in nooks and crannies, so this seems particularly well-suited for foundation application! :)
ReplyDeleteOh great tip!! Yes, I love that there's so many different sides & angles to this sponge! :)
DeleteHmmm, I've been addicted to my beauty blender for so long now, but this one really has me curious!
ReplyDeleteI'd give this one a try the next time you have to replace your beauty blender! :)
DeleteOh I didn't know you reviewed this already! I will give it a try tomorrow but I never had luck with sponges in the past :S
ReplyDeleteHehe! Let me know how you like it! :)
DeleteI'm obsessed with my Beauty Blender, so I am excited to try this one to see how it compares.
