2 coats OPI's Ate Berries in the Canaries, 1 coat Revlon Girly
Revlon's Girly is a radiant orchid colour with small and medium sized glitter pieces of various shades of pink and purple. When layered over another polish, the radiant orchid base can look a bit milky, and can slightly change your base colour. I found that the glitter pieces weren't densely packed into this polish, and a single coat of Girly gives a light scattering of glitter to your nails. I did try to wear this polish on its' own, but as you can see in my photo below, the base colour doesn't build up with subsequent layers.
3 coats Revlon Girly
I was really expecting Revlon's Girly to have a more opaque base, so I was slightly disappoint by its' opacity. However, it does look pretty when layered over OPI's Ate Berries in the Canaries. How do you like this combination? What would you layer Revlon's Girly over top of? :)
This reminds me of whimsical from Revlon, that one was just as sheer as this, I was so disappointed :(
ReplyDeleteI'll have to google Whimsical! I wish glitter polishes had labels that said either sheer or opaque lol
DeletePretty but the pigmentation just isnt there! Thanks for swatching it alone and over another shade :)
ReplyDeleteI completely agree! I'm so glad you liked my review :)
DeleteThis is pretty, but I'd want an opaque base like in the bottle. Maybe over white it would have a slight base colour?
ReplyDeleteI'll have to try it over a white polish! :)
DeleteI love this polish too, as well as it's cooler/blue sister, Whimsical, but I agree...SO much work to get opacity. It almost makes the slightly tinted base a bit useless, really...but still. I love glitter, and i love the Revlon formula...so long as there's a decent base, it's all good. I like using this over lighter pinks (to try to replicate the base colour).
ReplyDeleteYa, the glitter could be placed in a clear base and there wouldn't be much of a difference! I'm still wanting to try this over a milky pink/lavender though :)
DeleteI have this nail polish and I love it! I layer it over Sinful Colors Cinderella nail polish. :D
ReplyDeleteI find if I apply it thickly to the nail it looks more pigmented and glittery. :)

Ooh thanks for the tips! I'll have to try it again :)
DeleteGorgeous nails! I wish mine could grew this long.. ^^ I also have couple of Revlon-sparkly nailpolishes, just arrived from Fragrance Direct. :)

Thank you so much! I really love OPI's Nail Envy to help my nails stay strong & grow :)
DeleteOhh I think this would look lovely layered over a pastel purple.
ReplyDeleteIt definitely would! :)
DeleteIt's a bummer it isn't more opaque, but it does look really pretty over that OPI shade - which as a side note is absolutely gorgeous! I'd probably layer it over a blue shade, just to see how that would work out.
ReplyDeleteOooh I never thought about layering it over a blue shade! I'll need to try that! :)
DeleteI have this one and I hate it by itself, it looks dirty. I have not tried it layered over other polishes yet, but that is definitely the way to go for this one.
ReplyDeleteThis is definitely one that you need to layer!
DeleteI purchased this colour during a SDM event where I was missing $5 to redeem, but have not tried it yet. LIke Chantal said, it looks so blergh on its own, but it SHOULD be so pretty!
ReplyDeleteI know, it looks gorgeous in the bottle! I was really sad to see that the lilac base isn't more pigmented.
