Smashbox Always Sharp 3D Liner in 3D Gunmetal

If you hate having to always sharpen your eye liners, then this review is for you! Smashbox recently released a line of their new Always Sharp 3D Liners, and today I have the shade 3D Gunmetal* ($23 CAD/0.01 oz) to share with you. Eyeliners are one of my favourite products to try out, and I feel as though eyeliner really completes a makeup look.

"Ditch your sharpener-but stay sharp and shimmer on! A liner with reflective, 3D pearls that glides on and self-sharpens every time you twist the cap off. Inspired by Smashbox pros who sharpen before every use on set, this first-of-its-kind pencil has a sharpener built right into the cap for a perfect tip-so you'll always get a precise line.

To maximize the shimmer factor and really make eyes sparkle, first line with a dark hue, then layer a lighter shade over it!" - Smashbox

I absolutely love the packaging of Smashbox's Always Sharp 3D Liners! How genius - a sharpener built in to the cap! To remove the cap, simply twist off, and your pencil is sharpened at the same time. I also love that the packaging is colour-coded to the actual shade of the liner. This makes finding the right shade in the morning so much easier! As promised, the tip has been sharp each time I've used this liner, and I love that I don't lose any product like I would with a traditional liner while sharpening. The formula of this liner is very creamy and pigmented, and glides onto my eyes with ease - no tugging or pulling! I do find that the point of this liner creates a very thin line, but it can be built up of course to a thicker line. I've used this on my lid and lower lash line. I have to say that I prefer this on my lower lash line, just because I love wearing black on my lid. Thankfully, there is a black shade in this range!

The shade 3D Gunmetal is a beautiful metallic grey/silver with a shimmery finish. I find that this liner pairs nicely with pinks, purples, greys, and blue shadows. Worn on my lower lash line, this liner lasts all day long, and takes a good makeup remover to get every last trace off. If you have oily lids, I think you'll love this waterproof formula!

I really love this unique, revolutionary packaging, and the creamy long-wearing formula is a definite winner! I like this metallic silver shade in my lower lash line as it works to brighten up my eyes and add some colour. Have you tried any of Smashbox's new Always Sharp 3D Liners? I'm wanting to try out Orchid, Gemstone, and Galaxy (the black from this line)! What do you think of a liner that sharpens itself?

  1. I love how stubborn this pencil is! I have the worst time ever when it comes to eyeliner, they all seem to melt off my face...so there's some potential for success here. ;)

  6. This sounds like a great liner. It's funny how something so simple sounding like a sharpener in the lid can be so inventive.

  7. I haven't tried any of these Smashbox liners yet but I was looking at the nude coloured one recently, and it looks great. I am on the hunt for a good nude liner for my waterline. I think I'll end up with Stila Topaz but I like seeing what's out there.

    1. I've heard so many great reviews on Stila's Topaz! I find the formulas similar between the Smashbox and Stila liners, but Smashbox's lasts just a bit longer on my eyes :)
