St. Tropez Self Tan Bronzing Gel

It's no secret that I love a good fake tan, and my latest obsession has been St. Tropez' Self Tan Bronzing Gel* ($44 CAD/5 oz). I'm already a fan of the St. Tropez brand, and I've gone through bottles of both their mousse and tanning lotion. I thought that I would switch things up and give their Bronzing Gel a try, and I've been thoroughly impressed!

"What it is: A lightweight, easy to apply gel that leaves your skin with an allover, natural-looking tan.

What it does: This streak-free formula from the tanning experts at St. Tropez delivers the perfect sunkissed glow. The easy-to-use formula is suitable for all skin tones and the quick-drying gel is infused with long-lasting color, meaning you'll hold your bronze for days on end. Aromaguard™ fragrance technology keeps your sun-free secret safe, helping eliminate the tell-tale tanning smell by up to 70 percent. " - Sephora

St. Tropez Self Tan Bronzing Gel

I use St. Tropez' Self Tan Bronzing Gel twice a week, but you can use it more or less often depending on how tan you want to be. As the name would suggest, this is a gel formula. I find it easiest to apply without a mitt or gloves, and it doesn't turn my hands orange or streaky. I do try to wash my hands after applying the tanner to my upper body, before moving on to my legs. This way the tanner doesn't have time to develop on my hands throughout the tanning process. This formula is easy to blend into your skin, and you only have to wait about 3 minutes before getting dressed! The tanner itself has green undertones, which helps to keep the tanner from looking orange. I love the natural glow that this product gives to my skin, it's not orange, green, too brown, it's just perfect! This tan does start to fade after about 3 days, especially if you use an exfoliator in the shower. I've also noticed that this tanner has a stronger scent than other products from St. Tropez that I've tried. I've come to accept that fake tan scent, but do know that it is just a bit stronger with this formula.

Overall, I'm very impressed with St. Tropez's Self Tan Bronzing Gel! I absolutely love the natural bronzed colour that this gives to my skin, without leaving me streaky or orange. I also love that I don't need to use a mitt or gloves with this formula - application is super easy! With Summer creeping up on us, I know that a lot of us are wanting to fake a tan, and this is the perfect way to do just that. Do you self-tan? What are your favourite ways to fake a tan? :)

  5. I've heard so many great things about St Tropez, I've yet to hear/read a bad thing about their products. The only self tanner I've tried is Jergens Natural Glow - although I think it's marketed as a moisturizer lol :)

  6. This sounds like a great self-tanner. I've only tried one self-tanner that I got in a sub box last spring, but I'm always too afraid to end up looking like a pumpkin.

    1. I really like being able to get a bit of a glow, especially in the dim winter months (although I'm not sure how pregnancy-safe self tanners are!)
