Up first: The Balm's Mary-Lou Manizer! I absolutely love the packaging, it's just so cute. The compact opens up to reveal a golden beige powder that is incredibly soft & pigmented. I'm really loving the formula of both of these powders, they're such a dream to work with. I've been using an angled blush brush to apply Mary-Lou Manizer to my cheekbones after I've applied my blush. Since this shade is so pigmented it's fairly easy to go heavy handed. Tap your brush to remove excess product, and then apply for best results. I really love the golden sheen that this highlighter brings to my face. If you don't like an obvious highlighter, then this might be a bit too overt for you.
Next up, Betty-Lou Manizer, a shimmery bronzer. I tend to enjoy matte bronzers, so this is a big change from what I'm used to using. While I absolutely loved Mary-Lou Manizer, I unfortunately can't say the say for Betty-Lou Manizer. My skin is fairly pale, and I just found the colouring of Betty-Lou Manizer, to be a bit too dark and orange. I think that this might work well for someone with a medium to dark complexion, but I wouldn't recommend it to anyone with a lighter skin tone. I am able to wear this bronzer if I take my time with it and really buff it in to my skin, but it just isn't worth the time that it takes. However, I really love the formula of this bronzer - it's so creamy, pigmented, and it wears really well. If The Balm released a lighter bronzer shade in this formula I'd be all over that!
I highly recommend checking out this duo from The Balm, or just picking up Mary-Lou Manizer if you're quite fair. If you're curious about Betty-Lou Manizer, this duo is a great way to try out both shades at a reduced price! Have you tried either Mary-Lou Manizer or Betty-Lou Manizer? If you're also a pale gal and can get Betty-Lou Manizer to work for you, I would love to know your tips & tricks! :)
Betty would make a gorgeous eyeshadow! It would take forever to finish that way, but might be a nice way to use it since it doesn't work well on your skin?

I'll definitely need to try it as a shadow! I need to play around with it as a bronzer too (it might work better in the Summer with a tan!)
DeleteHave both and love both... wish I used them more often :S
ReplyDeleteOh you should pull them out and start using them! :)

ReplyDeleteI completely agree! :)

A Beautiful Zen
Thanks! I took a lot of time to blend out the bronzer lol or else it's definitely too orange for me.
DeleteAgreed with Jenn, the bronzer does look pretty good on you!! Don't know if it's the lighting, but it looks peachier on you (in a good way, hah)
ReplyDeleteI've also been using Betty on my eyes...gotta use it up somehow!
I also have MUFE's new HD Blush in 515 on my cheeks, and it's an orange shade, so that might be what you're seeing!
DeleteI need to try Betty on my eyes! :)
I FEEL DECEIVED.
DeleteSorry! The bronzer is all over my face!
DeleteI REALLY want to try out Betty Lou-Manizer, but this kit looks even better since you get 2 products for a great price! Looks great on you!

The kit is such a fantastic deal! :)
DeleteI've been seeing a lot of great products from The Balm lately. I have only ever tried one of their concealers, which I really like. I wish they still carried the line at Sephora, I generally don't like ordering things online too often.
ReplyDeleteI'm really wanting to try their Nude Tude palette, but I just can't justify buying another neutral palette! I agree, I'd much rather buy in store :)
