Benefit Fine One One

I've been loving anything coral lately, so I was excited to try out Benefit's Fine One One* ($36 CAD/0.28 oz). This cream blush comes in the cutest packaging - a twist up stick with three different shades. I'm definitely a Benebabe - I always love Benefit's adorable packaging and product names. Read on to see how well I got on with Fine One One...

"Having a beauty emergency? Call Fine-One-One! This lip-and-cheek illuminator glides on sheer in three different shades for a coral pink flush that builds from soft and natural to bright and cheery." - Sephora

Benefit's Fine One One is housed in a deodorant-like package, that's the only way that I can describe it! The rose gold chrome outer packaging is right on trend. When you remove the lid you can see the three shades inside - an orange, a red-coral, and a pink highlight. I've been applying this product directly from the tube onto my cheeks, which leaves you with three stripes. The middle coral shade is definitely the most pigmented, while the other two shades are quite sheer. I then take my Real Techniques Stippling Brush to blend all three shades together. If you wanted to, you could definitely keep all three shades separate, and blend them in with your fingers. There is quite a bit of shimmer in this formula, but I don't find that it makes my cheeks look like disco balls.

As for wear time, I can get about 7 hours out of Fine One One, which is good. If I top it with a powder blush (Tarte's Tipsy is a good match), I can get about 9-10 hours before my blush starts to fade. I do have to use 2-3 layers of Fine One One to get the colour that I want, since the colour does sheer out when blended. I don't detect any scent from this blush (unlike Benefit's boxed blushes).

While I do like the end result from this blush, I'm just not sure that it's worth the splurge. If you're a die hard Benebabe, then you might want to add this to your collection. Otherwise, I do think that there are other blushes available that get the job done a bit better. I do wish that the first orange shade and the highlighter were more pigmented, as the middle shade really overpowers the other two. Have you tried Benefit's Fine One One? Are you also a sucker for Benefits super cute packaging? :)

  4. A deodorant blush, hee-hee! :-) It's a neat idea to have 3 colours in a stick like that - easy to apply but at the same time easy to get individual colours. But I agree that the price is a bit high.
The end result looks really good on you!

  5. Every time I see this at Sephora I always try it on. You're right - it's very pretty but not necessarily worth the splurge. Great review!

  7. I have this and have to swirl it around so i don't look striped. It's a gimmick (but I love gimmicks)

  8. I actually really liked the look this gave for one of those no makeup days. I found it didn't last too well on my cheeks though. Probably won't repurchase
