essence Kalinka Beauty Collection

It seems as though essence is always releasing a new trend edition collection, and today I have their new Kalinka Beauty Collection to share with you! I have four items from this collection, which should be able to give you a feel for the collection in general.

"folklore patterns and lace adorn the designs of the beauty pieces and are combined with a bright color scheme of warm red, orange, apricot, beige, brown, green and brilliant blue.

in addition to focusing on the eyes, lips, face and nails, this trend edition has another special must-have in store for you: the cute matryoshka – the world-famous russian doll and the ultimate souvenir – is embodied in the shape of a unique purse. the single lashes in black, green and red also ensure an eye-catching look.

welcome to russia… with essence!" - essence

Gloss worn over lipstick

Kalinka Beauty Lip Cream in 01 meet me @ red square* ($2.99 CAD) - This duo contains one matte red shade and one sheer red gloss. Both shades feel very nice and creamy on my lips - I was very impressed that the matte shade wasn't drying! I love that you can layer these formulas, depending on the look that you want. This colour will transfer, and it doesn't fair to well throughout eating and drinking.

01 babushka me lip brush* ($1.99 CAD) - I was really excited about this brush, but unfortunately mine broke as soon as I took it out of the package. The blue handle isn't attached to the black upper part holding the bristles. I'm going to try to glue this back into place, because the bristles are very soft and this feels like a very nice brush.

Kalinka Beauty Eyeshadow 01 from russia with love* ($2.49 CAD) - This orange shade is not something that I would typically pick out for myself, but I was still game to try it out. This formula is very smooth and creamy, but I would have liked to have seen a richer pigmentation. When worn without primer, this colour starts to fade at the 5 hour mark.

Kalinka Beauty Nail Polish 01 absolut blue* ($2.49 CAD) - This formula was very easy to work with, but it chipped incredibly quickly. Within the first day of wear, I had chipping on 7 of my nails, which is really unfortunate. I had high hopes for this polish because the colour was quite rich with only one coat, but I need my polish to last a bit longer.

Overall, I don't think that there's anything here that you absolutely need in your life. I do think that the lip brush is a beauty bargain, as long as the one you get isn't broken, like mine was. The duo lip cream was my favourite item, as the formula is easy to wear, and I love a sheer red lip! Have you checked out essence's Kalinka Beauty Collection yet? Is there anything that you just need to have?

  8. Oh damn I can't believe your brush broke right off the bat like that! I just used mine today, it's not too bad but perhaps it's a bit too fluffy

  9. It's too bad about the blue polish chipping. I picked up the blue and orange polishes but haven't used them yet.
