I've tried out quite a few dry shampoos over the years (who else used baby powder before this wonderful invention?), and there are so many different types of formulas on the market. Lately I've been trying out Joico's Instant Refresh Dry Shampoo* ($19.95 CAD/200 ml), which claims to bring hair back to life just like a regular shampooing would!
Joico's Instant Refresh Dry Shampoo comes in a silver tall can with an aerosol sprayer. I know that people turn to dry shampoo for different reasons - some for added volume, some for texture, for a fresh scent, and lastly to soak up oils. I would fall into the latter category, I really only use dry shampoo on second or third day hair to absorb excess oils, and get me through to the next wash. Joico's Instant Refresh Dry Shampoo is just too lightweight for my needs. This formula gives you absolutely zero white residue - it's 100% colourless, which is a huge plus. But, this formula also doesn't soak up any oils, it mostly just refreshes my hair, and gives it a nice salon scent. You can spray on as much of this as you want, and you won't get any white colour, or any less oily.
So unfortunately, I'm going to have to give this product a pass. If you're looking for a product to lightly refresh & scent you hair, or if your hair is fine and thin, you might like this. Otherwise, I think that there are better dry shampoos on the market (I love Dove's Refresh + Care Dry Shampoo).
What do you look for in a dry shampoo?
There are so many dry shampoos out there these days! Great review xx

Thanks! Ya there are so many different options available, this one just didn't wow me.
DeleteHmmmm I'll have to pass on this! :(
ReplyDeleteya, it wasn't anything special :(
DeleteI only use dry shampoos when I straighten my hair (cause I keep it for 2-3 days), and I don't do that very often. I would say maybe 5-7 times in an entire year! And since I already have 2 dry shampoos at home (one from Ipsy) I don't see myself buying a new one anytime soon - although this one doesn't sound worth it anyway.
ReplyDeleteOh wow, I use dry shampoo all the time! So do you normally wash your hair every day?
DeleteIn the wintertime I usually style my hair every day, so yes I'll wash it every day. But in the summertime I'll often let it dry naturally then put it in a ponytail, so when I do that I can leave the wash for an extra day and just tie it up again.
DeleteOhh kk makes sense! :)
